Te Akau Tuesday Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing at two venues on Melbourne Cup Day Tuesday 1 November.

Ellerslie:

As on Monday 31 October the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true. 3mls rain forecast 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Monday, showers Tuesday afternoon.

2.28 p.m. R4 2 Vive La Difference (5 m Choisir - L'Artiste) - Matt Cameron; resumes off 270 days in the $30,000 Rating 85 1400 metres, following two pleasing trials. A winner of three races up to 1800 metres, and placed here in the $100,000 Championship Stakes (Gr. 2, 2100m), she has acted fresh to win over 1200 metres on Dead5. While unbeaten Francaletta (High Chaparral) will be all the rage, a solid effort should set her up for further genuine performances. Opening fixed odds price: $18.00 & $4.00.

5.28 p.m. R8 1 Foreigner (3 c Savabeel - Pins on Ice) - Michael McNab; produced a fine debut second over 1200 metres at Ruakaka, before being reeled in late for second on the same course when stepping to 1400 metres, each time with McNab aboard. He meets a stronger field in the $30,000 Maiden 3YO 1400 metres, but should go another good race with a touch of luck from barrier eight.

Flemington, Melbourne:

As on Monday 31 October the conditions were: overcast and Good3, rail true. 1ml rain forecast Monday, 2mls race day.

5.15 p.m. (NZT 7.15 p.m.) R10 15 Shillelagh (5 m Savabeel - Trocair) - Joao Moreira; travelled sweetly, three back inner, before being checked out of contention against the rail at the 250m in the $215,000 Schwepps Tristarc Stakes (Gr. 2, 1400m) on 15 October at Caulfield, having whistled home to snatch victory in the $40,000 Ladbrokes Up For the Challenge Handicap, Benchmark 84 1440 metres, on Saturday 1 October at Caulfield. Drawn wide in the $215,000 Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m), for mares, she fittingly has the champion Hong Kong jockey aboard, who previously rode many winners for Te Akau in Singapore, and bookmakers have her a $9.00 fourth favourite.
