Te Akau Tuesday Track Work

Te Akau track work Tuesday December 9

Plough:

Imperium (Miller) and Rockfast (Richards) worked together over 1200 metres in 1:17.3, 1000m in 1:03 and final 600m in 36.1. Freshened since finishing runner-up in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m), Rockfast (Fastnet Rock) is scheduled to contest the Great Northern Guineas (Gr. 2, 1600m) on Jan. 1 at Ellerslie. Imperium (Encosta De Lago), from the great mare Ethereal (Rhythm), has shown in his two starts to be a terrific three-year-old staying prospect and both horses are setting out on a NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) path. Depending on track conditions, they may trial, along with a big Te Akau team, next Tuesday at Te Aroha.

1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) runner-up Darci's Dream (Cameron) worked solo over 1200m in 1:26.9, last 600m in 39.4. Following a trial next week, Darci's Dream (Darci Brahma) contests the Eight Carat Classic (Gr. 2, 1600m) on Boxing Day at Ellerslie.

A smart winner during the cup week carnival week at Riccarton, Bronte Lass (Hercock) ran an easy 1000m. Madame Jamai (Miller) worked over 1000m in 1:04.1, last 600m in 36.2. Madame Jamai (Minstrel Court) emulated her stable-mate in winning at Riccarton, with a dashing performance off the front.

Flirty Gertey (Hercock) and Opulent (Samuelsson) covered 1200m in 1:16.9, last 600m in 35.7. They are each gearing up for races later in the week.

Vive La Difference (Cameron) and 3 g Henny Hughes - La Bella Zoccola (Hercock) went 1000m in 1:07.6, last 600m in 38.5.

Windborne (Samuelsson) covered 800m in 55, last 600m in 40.1. One of the most exciting two-year-olds in the country, Windborne (Darci Brahma), a sister to Darci's Dream, has won her two starts in impressive fashion. Firstly on debut at Ellerslie, and then showing high-class attributes in the Murdoch Newell Stakes (Listed, 1100m) at Avondale. Also scheduled to trial at Te Aroha, her next assignment is the Eclipse Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Jan. 1 at Ellerslie.

Super Power (Samuelsson) worked over 800m in 54.2, last 600m in 39.

Three-quarter pace on the plough:

La Adelita (Miller) 1000m, Angelica Hall (Miller) 800m.
