Plough:
Gearing up to race on Saturday at Tauranga, fresh up course winner Osmunda (K. Jones) and Wolfwhistle (Hercock) ran 1200m in 1:17, 1000m in 1:02 and last 600m in 36. It was good work by each. Osmunda (O'Reilly) is up in grade to contest the Rating 75 1600 metres and Wolfwhistle (O'Reilly) continues his prep to staying distances in the Rating 85 1600 metres.
Freshened a shade for the Maiden 1400 metres at Tauranga, Bon Marche (Lammas) ran 1000m in 1:04, last 600m in 38.
Training terrifically, staying mare Ekraarstatic (K. Jones) worked over 1200m in 1:21.5. Now ready, she steps up in the Rating 85 2200 metres on Melbourne Cup Day, 3 November at Ellerslie.
Scheduled for the Rating 65 1600 metres at Ellerslie, Lady Painton (R. Jones) looked sharp in an easy 1200m.
Heading south for the Rating 65 1400 metres on Melbourne Cup Day meeting at Otaki, Star of Greenbeel (Lammas) went 1000m in 1:07.6, last 600m in 39.4.
Plough, three-quarter pace:
Preparing for the Maiden 1600m on Thursday at New Plymouth, Hushed (Zac-Syed) worked over 1400m. Amperage (Richards) went 1400m, last 1000m in 1:10. Amperage (Zabeel) steps up to 2000 metres at New Plymouth, where both horses will be ridden by Shaun McKay at a meeting for apprentice jockeys only.
All-weather:
Heading south for the Rating 75 2300 metres on Saturday at Awapuni, Highly Likely (Hercock) pleased when working over 2200m. Highly Likely (High Chaparral) clocked 1:19 for the 1200m and 38 for the final 600m, finishing off strongly.
