Te Akau track work highlights Tuesday 12 January -

Course proper, out 20 metres (Dead):

Gearing up for the premier meeting on Saturday at Trentham, Opulent (K. Jones) and Shillelagh (Hercock) ran 1200 metres in 1:21.7 and last 600m in 38.5, both working well. They have been nominated for the $70,000 Anniversary Handicap (Gr. 3, 1600m).

Red Poppy (K. Jones) and Vinevale (Hercock) ran 1200m in 1:22.1, last 600m in 37.7, both working well. They are entered for the Rating 65 1400 metres on Friday at Matamata.

Working against the rail, Ekraarstatic (Lammas) and Xtravagant (Cameron) covered 1200m in 1:15, last 600m in 35, which was tremendous work by both. Xtravagant (Pentire) contests the $225,000 Levin Classic (Gr. 1, 1600m) on Saturday at Trentham, and Ekraarstatic (Ekraar) the Rating 85 2100 metres on Saturday at Tauranga.

Plough:

Flaming (K. Jones) and Madame Jamai (Hercock) ran 1000m 1:04, last 600m in 35.5. They are both nominated for the Rating 75 1200 metres at Trentham.

Tavis Star (Hercock) and Vive La Difference (K. Jones) worked well together over 1200m in 1:20.5, last 600m in 36.7. Tavis Star (Tavistock) contests the Rating 75 2000 metres on Friday at Matamata.

Bishop Rock (Ritchie) and Zambezi Warrior (Cameron) ran 1200m in 1:19.8, last 600m in 36.5, which was beautiful work. Zambezi Warrior (Pentire) races on Friday in the Maiden 1600 metres at Matamata, and Bishop Rock (Fastnet Rock) lines up in the Rating 65 1600 metres on Saturday at Tauranga.

I See Fire (K. Jones) and Osmunda (Hercock) ran 1000m in 1:07.5, last 600m in 37.5, pleasing their respective riders. Both racing Thursday at Wanganui, I See Fire (Encosta De Lago) makes her debut in the Maiden 3YO Fillies 1200 metres and Osmunda (O'Reilly) contests the Rating 65 1600 metres.

Cabaret (K. Jones) and Herschal (Cameron) ran 1000m in 1:06, last 600m in 36, in preparation to race at Matamata. Cabaret (Showcasing) makes her debut in the Maiden 1200 metres and Herschal (Savabeel) contests the Maiden 3YO 1100 metres.

Plough, three-quarter pace:

Special Memories (Lammas) ran 1200m in 1:15, last 600m in 45, enjoying her solo work.

All-weather track:

Resuming over a mile at Matamata, Skyscraper (Lammas) worked with a mate over 1000m in 1:01, last 600m in 35.7.
