Te Akau track work highlights - Tuesday 1 March - murky conditions prevented some timing.

Course proper (slow):

Both racing this Saturday Duchess Kate (Lammas) and Xtravagant (Cameron) went together over 1400m. They ran the 1200m in 1:19.4 and last 600m in 38.3. It was very good work given the conditions. Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) winner Duchess Kate (Savabeel) contests the $70,000 Sunline Vase (Gr. 3, 2100m) at Ellerslie, and dual group one winner Xtravagant (Pentire), of the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and weight-for-age NRM Sprint (Gr. 1, 1400m), takes on the Aussies in the $750,000 Australian Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) at Flemington.

Windborne (Lammas) ran 1000m in 1:06, last 600m in 39.2. Dual stakes' winner Windborne (Darci Brahma) races in the $70,000 Mr Tiz Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Saturday at Ellerslie.

Sand (wet):

Beacon of Hope (Hanafi) and Chambord (Leveque) ran 1000m in 1:09, last 600m in 40.
Echezeaux (Lammas) worked well over 1200m in 1:24, last 600m in 39.2. Echezeaux (Encosta De Lago) contests the Maiden 1600 metres on Friday at Awapuni.

Sand, three-quarter pace:

Our Abbadean (R. Jones) went pleasingly over 800m in 60, last 600m in 44. Astrid (K. Jones) worked over 1200m. Winehouse (Miller) and 2 f Redoute's Choice - Scarlett Lady (Lammas) ran 600m in 44.2. Forty Winks (Fawcett) ran 800m in 57.
