Plough:
Preparing to race on Saturday, Smashing (Lammas) and Windborne (M. Grylls) galloped together over 1000m in 1:02, last 600m in 35.4. Following a top run for third in the $50,000 Lightning Stakes (Listed, 1200m) at Trentham, Smashing (Pins) contests the $50,000 NZB Finance & Leasing Sprint (Listed, 1200m) at Hastings. Freshened since a strong third in the $70,000 Mr Tiz Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m) at Ellerslie, dual stakes' winner Windborne (Darci Brahma) lines up in the $20,000 3YO 1200 metres at Tauranga. A good performance would aid her chances in the $70,000 Cambridge Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 3, 1200m) on 30 April at Te Rapa.
Stella Di Paco (C. Grylls) and Tatters (Lammas) ran 1000m in 1:03.8, last 600m in 36.8. Third and first, respectively, in the Rating 65 1215 metres at Rotorua, they are both entered to race on Saturday at Tauranga. Stakes' winner Stella Di Paco (Paco Boy) in the Rating 65 1400 metres and Tatters (Tavistock) in the same race as Windborne, above.
Silverdale (Miller) ran 1200m in 1:19.4, last 600m 37.4, which was good solo work. An accomplished competitor at the top level, he is preparing for the $75,000 Hawkes Bay Cup (Listed, 2200m) this Saturday at Hastings.
2 g Echoes of Heaven - Replicate (Ritchie) went an easy 600m solo. Beaumarchais (Leveque) and Seductive D'oro (M. Grylls) went an easy 600m together.
Plough, three-quarter pace:
Our Abbadean (Miller) and Tavis Star (Fawcett) worked well together over 1000m, last 600m in 42.5. Having sustained a big run to win fresh up over 1200 metres at Matamata, Our Abbadean (Lookin at Lucky) is scheduled for the Rating 65 1400 metres next Wednesday 20 April at Te Aroha. Course winner Tavis Star (Tavistock) may resume at the same meeting.
Royal Success (Shailer) worked to time over 1000m. Second in a recent trial over 1200 metres at Avondale, Royal Success (Savabeel) is scheduled to debut next Thursday 21 April in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres at Woodville.
Interstellar (Lammas) and Vinevale (M. Grylls) got their time spot on over 1000m. Impressive debut winner Vinevale (Flying Spur) is set to resume next Wednesday in the Rating 65 1200 metres at Te Aroha.
Beacon of Hope (Miller) and Fastnet Fire (Lammas) worked over 1000m. In solid form, Beacon of Hope (Fastnet Rock) has a few racing options in the next week and trainers Stephen Autridge & Jamie Richards have settled on the Rating 75 1400 metres next Wednesday at Te Aroha. With Fastnet Fire (Fastnet Rock) they are looking to single out a starting point for the staying type filly to debut.
Grazia (Leveque) and Niamh Elizabeth (M. Grylls) went 1000m together. Solid when third on debut over 1400 metres at Matamata, Grazia (Savabeel) is scheduled for the Maiden 1400 metres next Wednesday at Te Aroha. Niamh Elizabeth (Per Incanto) is looking to resume in the Maiden 1200 metres next Thursday at Woodville.
Primrose (Hillis) and 2 f Mastercraftsman - Lynisky (Fawcett) went 800m. Herschal (Coleman) ran 1000m solo, looking good.
All-weather track:
Abbey Kay (Hillis), Kuia (Fawcett) and 2 f Alamosa - Eclectic Heights (Pinn) working as a trio went an easy 600m.
