Te Akau track work highlights - Tuesday 19 July -
Course Proper - Heavy:
Group One winning colts Xtravagant (K. Jones) and unbeaten Heroic Valour (Lammas) had their first piece of fast work on the grass, running 800 metres in 53, covering their last 600 in 39.3.
No.2 Sand:
New Plymouth prospect Chadsdale (Lammas) and Ruakaka nominee Astrid (K. Jones) worked together over 1000 metres in 1.05, last 600 in 37.1. Both horses appear well ahead of their Rating 75 1400 metres assignments on Saturday.
Sassy ‘N' Smart (K. Jones) and O'Reilly Star (Leveque) covered 800 metres in 55.1, last 600 in 39.8. Both worked well as they prepare for the Te Teko trials on 2 August.
Iffraaj filly Red Poppy (Lammas) worked in company with Zabeel filly Unfazed (Fawcett), they ran 800 metres in 57.7, last 600 in 41. 2f Rip Van Winkle - Bak Da Princess (Fawcett) worked stylishly with 2f Redwood - Volks Princess (M. Grylls) over 800 metres in 56, final 600 in 41.
Zambezi Warrior (Pinn) followed Bishop Rock (Shailer) over 800 metres in 55, last 600 in 40. Both geldings remain on target to trial at Te Teko on 2 August. Savabeel colt Hall Of Fame (Shailer) was paired with Ocean Rock (Pinn) over 800 metres, they covered the ground in 54, last 600 in 39.
Melbourne bound Shillelagh (Coleman) worked in company with Carmenize (Fawcett) over 800 metres in 53, last 600 in 38.5. The Savabeel mare will be targeted towards the black-type fillies' and mares' events throughout the spring carnival.
Our Abbadean (K. Jones) and O'Know (Leveque) worked over 800 metres in 55, last 600 in 39. Corporate Missile (M. Grylls) and Tiffany's Time (K. Price) did similar work, running the 800 in 55.3, final 600 in 40.1
O'Naturelle (Lammas) and Dame Margo Fonteyn (Hillis) prepared for the Te Teko trials, working over 800 metres in 56.2, last 600 in 40.6. Alrina (M. Grylls) and Lucy Wyldstyle (Fawcett) ran 800 metres in 55.8, final 600 in 40.3
All-Weather:
Encosta De Lago gelding Imperium (Shailer) enjoyed his work over 800 metres in 55, running his last 600 in 39.9.
Brer (Shailer) prepared for the Koral Steeplechase at Riccarton on 6 August by working over 2000 metres. He heads to the South Island next week, where Aaron Kuru will ride him in the feature steeplechase on the first day of the Grand National carnival.
