Te Akau track work highlights - Tuesday 2 May -

Course Proper:

Aquilo (McNab) and Gold Fever (Lammas) worked together over 1000 metres in 1.6.8, last 600 in 38.5 with Gold Fever (Savabeel) not appreciating the track conditions.  Both are being prepared for the Listed 2YO event at Te Rapa on Saturday. Play For Time (Miller) followed in behind and ran similar time.

Bishop Rock (McNab) ran 1000 metres in 1.12, last 600 in 43.  Bishop Rock (Fastnet Rock) is working towards the Rating 65 1400 metre event at Hastings on 11 May.

Brisbane-bound Zambezi Warrior (McNab) worked with Foreigner (Miller) at three quarter pace over 1000 metres, they were spot on, running 1.15 on the dot. Both looked keen in their work.

No2. Sand:

Rocksun (Pinn) travelled over 1000 metres at three quarter pace in 1.14.5, working the last 600 in 44.7.

Jimmy Rae (Leveque) worked an easy 800 metres in 56.8, last 600 in 41.3. Jimmy Rae (Thewayyouare) departs for the Brisbane Winter Carnival on Thursday.

Melody Belle (K Jones) worked over 800 metres at three quarter pace. No time was recorded but both the rider and trainer were pleased with her work as she too looks to Brisbane for major assignments.

Niamh Elizabeth (M Grylls) and More Than Fast (Tan) worked over 1000 metres in 1.3.9, last 600 in 36.7. Both horses were quite evenly matched and are scheduled to race at Wanganui on Sunday 7 May.  Niamh Elizabeth (Per Incanto) lines up in the Rating 65 1200 metres and More Than Fast (Fastnet Rock), who was scratched from Matamata tomorrow in search of better footing, contests the Maiden 1340 metres.
