Preparing for the $750,000 NZ Derby (Gr. 1, 2400m) this Saturday, March 1, at Ellerslie, King Savinsky (Hercock) and Spellbinder (Cameron) worked over ground to cover the last 1400 metres in 1:30.8, 1000m in 1:02.2, last 600m in 35.9.

Also being readied to race during the Auckland Carnival, starting this Saturday, Abidewithme (Hercock) and Angelica Hall (Cameron) ran over 1200 metres in 1:14.5, last 600m in 35.2. Both winners last time out, Abidewithme (Redoute's Choice) contests the Westbury Classic (Gr. 3, 1400m) on Auckland Cup Day, Feb. 5, and Angelica Hall (Guillotine) tackles the Mr Tiz Trophy (Gr. 3, 1200m) on Feb. 8.

Sir Darci (Cameron), a smart recent winner at Ellerslie, and Stanica Star (Hercock) went over 1200 metres in 1:18.3, coming home in 36.1 for the last 600m. Sir Darci (Darci Brahma) goes to the Lindsay Mile (3YO, 1600m) this Saturday at Ellerslie, and Stanica Star (Danzero), having won two of his last four, is kicking off from a break in the Open 1400 metres on Saturday at Hastings.

Bronte Lass (Cameron) worked over 1000 metres in 1:06.3, last 600m in 37.2. Freshened since striking a hard track in the Anniversary Handicap (Listed, 1600m) at Trentham, she is gearing up for the Benchmark 85 1400 metres on March 8 at Ellerslie. Bronte Lass is our main picture.

Thrive (Miller) worked an easy 800 metres in 55, last 600m in 40.1. Urban Angel (Misbah) covered 600m in 35.5. Flying Therese (Misbah) and 3 f Zabeel - Thistle Cove (Miller) covered 800 metres in 55.7, last 600m in 40.8. Clos De Tart (Miller) ran 800m in 55, 600m in 40. Darci's Dream (Misbah) worked over 800m in 52.5, last 600m in 37.1. Quintette (Colgan) covered 800m in 55.5, 600m in 40.3. Orinto (Misbah) ran 800m in 54.5, last 600m 39.8. Sovereign Rose (Hercock) went an easy 800m in 56.3, last 600m in 41.2.
