Course proper (Heavy):

Costa Viva (Cameron) and Quintette (Forbes) worked right-handed in 1:07.4 for the 1000 metres, last 600m in 39. Winner of the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) and New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year, Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago) departs on Wednesday night to Brisbane. She has been nominated for the $125k Gold Coast Guineas (Gr. 3, 1200m) this Saturday, May 3, at the Gold Coast Turf Club. Trainer Jason Bridgman will then look at options leading into the $350k Queensland Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m) on May 31 at Eagle Farm and the weight-for-age $500k Tattersalls Tiara (Gr. 1, 1400m) for fillies and mares on June 21 at Eagle Farm.

Following encouraging trials, Quintette (Alamosa) is preparing to resume in the Benchmark 65 1200 metres this Saturday at Te Rapa.

Also preparing to race on Saturday at Te Rapa, Sovereign Rose (Forbes - pictured last week) and Wolfwhistle (Misbah) worked from the 1400 metres on the sand track to cover 1200m in 1:21.4, last 600m in 38.3. Last start winner Sovereign Rose (Pins) contests the Benchmark 85 2100 metres and an improving Wolfwhistle (O'Reilly) the Benchmark 65 1600 metres.

Also set for the Benchmark 65 1600 metres on Saturday, La Adelita (Cameron) worked solo on the course proper over 1200 metres in 1:22.8, last 600m in 39.6.

Working at three-quarter pace, 2 f Guillotine - Clearbrook Lane (Cameron) and 2 f Mastercraftsman - Montjeu Way (Forbes) went 800 metres 57.5 on the two-year-old grass track. Latin Rose (Hercock) and Realize (Misbah) covered 800m in 1:02. Jimmy Rea (Misbah) and Storm Trooper (Hercock) ran the 800m in 59. Opulent (Richards) worked solo over 800m in 1:01.
