Te Akau track work highlights - Tuesday November 4 -

Course proper (Dead):

Preparing for their respective assignments during cup week at Riccarton (Nov. 8, 12, 15), Chambord (Lammas) and Costa Viva (Hercock) worked together over 1200 metres in 1:19.1, 1000m in 1:05 and final 600m in 37.2.

Second in the 2000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) during the corresponding carnival last season, Chambord (Zabeel) shapes as a strong light weight contender in the Coupland Bakeries Mile (Gr. 2, 1600m) on Wednesday Nov. 12, and Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago), who won the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) before being crowned New Zealand Bloodstock Filly of the Year, contests the Valachi Downs Canterbury Breeders' Stakes (Gr. 3, 1400m) on the same day.

Clos De Tart (Zainal - pictured below right) and Maestro (Miller - pictured below left) covered 1200m in 1:25, last 600m in 41.3. Clos De Tart (Darci Brahma) steps out this Friday at Rotorua, following an encouraging fresh up performance, and Maestro (Encosta De Lago), who proved very consistent through his first campaign, resumes over 1400 metres at the same meeting.

Echezeaux (Hercock - below right) and Prince Henry (Lammas - below left) went 1200m in 1:20.5, last 600m 37.8. Prince Henry (Henrythenavigator) is set to continue his strong form this Saturday at Te Rapa, and Echezeaux (Encosta De Lago), the three-year-old half-sister to Darci Brahma (Danehill) and Burgundy (Redoute's Choice), is gearing up to debut on Wednesday Nov. 12 at Matamata.

Flirty Gertey (Zainal - main picture) and Scandinavian (Miller - below) worked over 1200 metres in 1:18.7, last 600m in 38.5. Trainer Jason Bridgman is eyeing assignments for the pair at either Hastings (Nov. 9), or Matamata (Nov. 12).

Sand track:

Rapid Gain (Miller) worked over 1200 metres in 1:23.7, last 600m in 39.5. Rapid Gain (Flying Spur) steps up in distance to contest the Rating 75 1600 metres this Saturday at Te Rapa.  With suitable options on either Friday at Rotorua, or Saturday at Te Rapa, Tiara (Hercock) covered 1200m in 1:24.8, last 600m in 40.1.

Three-quarter pace on the sand track:

Bordeaux (Allen) worked solo over 1000 metres, Opulent (Lammas) 1000m, The Musician (Hercock) 800m, Longbeach (Miller) 1200m, Davey Crockett (Allen) 800m, Brochaine (Samuelsson) 800m, Light Source (Hercock) 800m, Astrid (Zainal) 800m, Frock (Miller) 800m.
