Course proper (Slow):

In separate gallops while preparing to race in the Benchmark 75 2100 metres on Saturday at Te Rapa, Goyescas (Miller) worked from the 1200-metre marker at three-quarter pace before closing off in 39.5 for the final 600m, and Prospero (Stack) produced solid work from the 1400 metres to finish off in 42.9 at the end of the session. Rapid Gain (Stack) went with Goyescas ahead of his assignment next Monday in the Maiden 1300 metres at Taupo, and Sunset Pass (Demir), who resumes in the Maiden 1800 metres at the same meeting, partnered Prospero.

The 2100-metre race on Saturday is one of three on the card set aside for the Asian Young Guns Challenge Series that sees local riders Rory Hutchings and Miranda Dravitski compete against eight international apprentices. The mounts are drawn by ballot.

Also racing at Taupo, Dreamer (Miller) and Fast Fiction (Stack) ran home in 40 for the 600 metres. They contest the Maiden 1000 metres and Benchmark 65 1000 metres, respectively. Hardcore Rock (Miller) and Wolfwhistle (Stack) prepared for the Maiden 1200 metres at the same meeting with a good gallop from the 1000 metres to close off in 39.1 for the final 600m.

Sand track:

Abidewithme (Stack) and Precious Time (Miller) worked over 800 metres in 56.2, and Single Act (Hazlett) followed with a similar piece of work.

800 metres three-quarter pace on the sand track:

All Decked Out (Miller) and O'Darci (Stack) clocked 56.4, King's Rock (Miller) was followed by Imperial Miss (Rizman) at an interval in 59, Exabelle (Rizman) and Viana (Demir) clocked 59, Jewels Gift (Miller) and Osmunda (Stack) were bang on with time of a minute for the 800 metres at three-quarter pace, Orinto (Rizman) worked up solo in 59, and Clos De Tart (Donnelley) followed Flirty Gertey (Stack) and 3 f More than Ready - Insouciant (Miller) in similar work. Aspen (Stack) and Sebrose (Demir) clocked 58.7.
