Te Akau Tuesday Update

We had five mls of rain last night.  Let's hope there is no more for the cricket today but we certainly want some more later in the week.

I am still buzzing with Mark's great weekend in Singapore and it was just terrific for him to get those four wins, three on Sunday night.  It was also very satisfying because all four were bought by me and that gave me a great thrill for their owners.

Mark is now a whopping 10 wins clear on the Singapore Trainers' Premiership table with 28 wins to his credit - he has also trained 16 runners up, 37 third place-getters and 17 fourth place-getters - so the team is totally on fire!

Today we have friends coming to the farm to see horses that they have purchased including a share in our fabulous Alamosa filly out of Tinsel Time - Karyn has named her "Tilly the Filly" as her stable name - she is almost black even though officially she is brown and as you can see form her picture below - she is a real looker.

Her dam Tinsel Time is a More Than Ready mare who won TWO stakes' races and her one foal to race thus far (a half sister to our filly) has already been a winner in Australia.  This is a family full of group winners and a lot of two year old performers too - of course her sire Alamosa also recorded three of his 10 wins as a two year old too.  A high class race horse, Alamosa won group 1 races as a two, three and four year old including the Group 1 Toorak Hcp in Australia.

We only have 5% available in this lovely filly - a she was a steal at $55,000 - so just $2750 plus GST secures the final share!

So a lass with a really good pedigree, a top quality sort of filly and it my goal for the day to sell that 5%.  Karyn has taken a share in this  filly and we will start breaking her in next week. She's gone great guns here since the sale, settling in beautifully. She is a filly that I think could make a two year old but she certainly has plenty of scope to train on to be a Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas' filly as a three year old.

This filly has terrific balance and has a lovely action in the paddock.  She just floats around the paddock and is obviously a high class filly in the making that was bought for a ridiculously cheap price and represents great value.

I can't believe that the TAB has the South African team as the favourites to beat the Black Caps today in the crucial knock out game - I am sure most of NZ will come to a stand-still - even schools are in some cases giving their students a half day of - I really hope the TAB has it very wrong on this occasion!  GO BRENDON AND THE BOYS!
