Te Akau Tuesday Update

We have all been flat stick at Te Akau Stud today with three fertiliser trucks applying DAP on 1000 acres - DAP is a high powered fertiliser with super phosphate and nitrogen mixed in and when the rain comes the grass will really take off.

Yesterday was a most exciting day as shares in the Exceed and Excel colt that we bought from the Sydney Sale were all sold - even before we put him on our website as available for sale. He sold to eagle eyed owners in just two hours and we now have a waiting list.

We also bought a Coat's Choice colt at the South Island Sale for just $21,000.  He arrived home at Te Akau Stud today in great shape and we couldn't be happier with the way he looks - we will give him a week off and then we will start breaking him in.   This colt was great value and Jamie Richards did a good job buying such a quality animal.  Shares are available in him as I write with a 10% share being only $2,100 plus GST.

As I have said before, Te Akau has missed out on most of the rain that the rest of the Waikato has had in the last few weeks - there is nothing worse than sitting down at night to watch the forecast and see them predicting rain week after week but not for us, it never arrives!  Hope the weatherman Jim Hickey is right when he says the rain is definitely coming on Thursday!  Fingers crossed!
