Te Akau TV 1000 Guineas Preview

Welcome to another edition of Te Akau TV!

We wrap up what's been a great week for Te Akau at the Canterbury Jockey Club's New Zealand Cup Week carnival. Jamie touches on the amazing performance of Noverre in the $500,000 Group 1 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai 49th NZ 2000 Guineas - Te Akau's 7th 2000 Guineas' victory.

Jamie then covers off our Wednesday hat-trick with Markus Aurelius taking out the $230,000 Group 2 Coupland's Bakeries Mile, Summer Monsoon winning $100,000 Group 3 Lindauer Stewards' Stakes and Zouluminous claiming the last, a $40,000 Rating 74 1800 metres. Three winners from three starters!

This takes Jamie's career Group 1 tally to 49 (14 of which have come in the 2021 calendar year) - he hopes to bring up his half century with five runners in the Group 1 Barneswood Farm 49th NZ 1000 Guineas. We have strong chances in Imperatriz, Belle En Rouge, The Perfect Pink, Shepherd's Delight and Irish Red.

The stable Best Bets are running hot with Jamie selecting Noverre on Saturday and our Assistant Trainer Sam Bergerson selecting Markus Aurelius on Wednesday. Jamie thinks he's found one at Tauranga and will be aiming to keep the hot streak going.

Finally, we give a quick update on the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale which takes place on Wednesday & Thursday next week. Te Akau will be very active at this sale, this is the sale where David Ellis bought trans-Tasman Group 1 winners Gingernuts and Te Akau Shark.  Hear the lowdown on how to purchase a share in one of our selected young horses during this virtual sale. Our shares really sell fast so don't delay!

Good luck to all runners & connections!
