TE AKAU TV - 1000 Guineas Weekend Is Here!
Date: 11 Nov 2022
Welcome to a special Group 1 NZ 1000 Guineas' edition of Te Akau TV - as Te Akau seeks its 14th Guineas' title.
Among the nominations, Te Akau has recent Canterbury Belle Stakes (Listed, 1200m) winner One Kiss (Tivaci), owned by Lib Petagna, and tough young filly Romancing The Moon (El Roca), who is owned by the Te Akau Moonstruck Racing Partnership (Mgr: Karyn Fenton-Ellis MNZM), and was purchased as a yearling by David Ellis CNZM for $50,000 at the 2021 Karaka Book 1 Sale, from the draft Westbury Stud.
The Perfect Pink (Savabeel) provided Te Akau with a 1000/2000 Guineas' double last season, after heading home a first four for the stable. Previously the stable has won the female feature with Kahma Lass (Darci Brahma), Risque (Darci Brahma), Costa Viva (Encosta De Lago), King's Rose (Redoute's Choice) and Insouciant (Keeper).
Te Akau's Racing Manager Reece Trumper & Hamish catch-up on the week that's been, including stakes' winners Campionessa and Sky On Fire (a Te Akau trifecta), both ridden by visiting Australian jockey Josh Parr. Our other stable winners Viva Vienna, Inca Belle, Elounda and Believe in Magic also sparkled on the track in the past week.
Reece then takes us through our runners at Riccarton and Tauranga, as well as Hastings on Sunday, before providing us with his best bet for the weekend.
Good luck to all runners and connections.
