Te Akau TV - Easter Weekend Preview
18 April, 2025
Here's to a WILD Easter Weekend!
As we near the end of another memorable Te Akau TV season, the team continues to fire on all cylinders - delivering a Black Type double last Saturday and strong performances on both sides of the Tasman!
Last weekend was another successful one, with five winners across the board. We kicked things off in style with a black-type double. At Trentham, Mehzebeen was a deserving winner of the Listed Valley D’Vine Restaurant Hawke’s Bay Cup, adding to her impressive resume with a tough staying performance. Down south at Riccarton, Dream Of The Moon produced an explosive run to take out the Listed NZB Airfreight Stakes. It’s always special to secure Listed wins in both the North and South Islands on the same weekend.
Supporting the feature winners were strong performances from Knowledge Is Power and Star Shadow, who both recorded smart victories at Riccarton. Meanwhile, across the Tasman, Leaderboard continued his purple patch with another dominant win at Ballarat for Fortuna Racing - he’s absolutely loving it.
This weekend, we have six runners engaged across Saturday, headlined by Wild Night at Ellerslie in the Group 3 Manco Easter Handicap. He’s trialled up well and looks a good chance in what’s shaping up to be a very competitive field. We’ll also be represented at Riverton and Waverley over the Easter weekend, while in Australia, Savoir Faire continues his campaign at Mornington.
This week’s best bet is Wild Night at Ellerslie. He’s proven himself at Group level and looks set to run a bold race.
Looking ahead, we wrap up the 2024/25 Te Akau TV season next weekend at Te Rapa with the Group 3 Cambridge Breeders Stakes. It’s been a massive season, and we're not done yet.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy long weekend. We’re glad to provide some racing entertainment during the Easter break - we hope you're enjoying it with friends and family!
Best of luck to all our runners and connections this weekend - and as always, GO THE TANGERINE!
