Te Akau TV - G1, G2, G3 Weekend Preview
Date: 27 Oct 2023
Get ready for unmissable racing action this weekend with Team Te Akau as our horses hunt down Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 honours!
Over the past week, our winning streak continued with Kai at Te Rapa, 2000 Guineas-bound Talisker at Ashburton, and Firriato at Rotorua - taking our NZ winning tally to 48 for the season - 28 ahead of the next stable. Mark and Sam's 3.77 strike rate is just superb!
In this episode of Te Akau TV, we throw the spotlight on our weekend runners and also link in with our Australian Assistant Trainer Ben Gleeson from our Cranbourne base as the tangerine is making its presence felt in Victoria. Actually earlier this week, we chatted with Ben about Imperatriz' preparation for the big event on Saturday. If you missed it, you can catch up by clicking here.
Looking to the upcoming weekend, we are thrilled to have our high-calibre team stepping out in three different countries - Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
The excitement kicks off on Friday night under the lights at Moonee Valley, with last start winner, Rubicon Crossing, ready to go back to back.
Saturday will be here before you know it, and it feels like Christmas for us. To have a horse running on the iconic Cox Plate Day is a source of immense pride for us all. Imperatriz is in exceptional form and is ready to take on the Group One Manikato Stakes at her favourite track. History awaits as, if she can win, she will be the fist horse ever to make a clean sweep of the Group 1 triple crown at the Valley.
A special shout-out to the Moonee Valley team - imagine having Friday night racing (and an after party) and then be set to race again the very next day, Saturday! What a turn-around that must be!
On Saturday in New Zealand, we have runners at New Plymouth and Pukekohe. My Lips are Sealed contests the Group Two Jamieson Park Soliloquy Stakes in the north, while Trobriand, one of our 2000 Guineas contenders, lays down the gauntlet at Riccarton in the Group Three War Decree Stakes.
Stay tuned for a weekend jam-packed with racing excitement - we can't wait to share it all with you!!
