Te Akau TV - Your Festive Season Entertainment Covered
Date: 24 Dec 2024
‘Tis the festive racing season, and at Te Akau, we’re joyfully immersed in the spirit of the celebration - it’s all about ho-ho-ho-horses!
Welcome to this special episode of Te Akau TV just in time to have your Boxing Day entertainment sorted! Our NZ racing manager Reece Trumper takes the reins to provide you with an exclusive preview of the exciting and action-packed racing during this festive time!
While this time of the year adds a touch of magic to the air, it's a hugely busy time and we are so full of appreciation for our team that is wholeheartedly committed to our horses and the hectic summer racing season.
In the past week, we celebrated two fantastic wins at our home track Matamata with Cognoscenti and Hakkinen, and were delighted to see Egyptian Queen showcase her talent with her second well-deserved victory at Te Rapa.
As mentioned, Chrismas into the New Year is anything but restful for our racing team. We will be here, there, and everywhere over the summer ‘break’! Amidst the Christmas rush, we’re excited to bring you action from some of our top tracks.
On Boxing Day, we’ll have strong contingents at Ellerslie, Wingatui and Otaki. Then on 27 December, we’ll feature runners at Taranaki, with even more action to follow over the weekend with runners at Timaru, Rotorua and Wanganui - as it never stops around here!
Boxing Day sees Belle Du Monde, one of our promising 2YOs, looking to snare some valuable Karaka Millions' dollars. We’ll also be cheering on standout runners like last year’s Group 1 Zabeel Classic winner Campionessa who’s aiming to defend her title in this prestigious event. Our glamour girl Damask Rose also steps up to Group 2 level in the Shaw’s Wire Ropes Auckland Guineas. Further south, Star Shadow takes her place in the Listed NZB Insurance Stakes for 3YO fillies at Wingatui.
So, we hope you relax over the holiday period, settle into your favourite spot, and get ready for some top-class action on the track or off.
As we celebrate the end of 2024, and ready ourselves for a new year ahead, our hearts are filled with gratitude to our wonderful owners and supporters. We can’t thank you enough for your loyalty and enthusiasm. The entire Te Akau team, spanning from Matamata to the farm, Cranbourne to the South Island, joins together to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with the thrills of the track!
Racing truly is the gift that keeps on giving this Christmas season so do keep an eye out for more racing excitement—we’ll return with a special New Year’s Day edition of Te Akau TV to kickstart 2025 on a high note!
Merry Christmas! GO THE TANGERINE!
