Te Akau Victoria Good Friday Preview
3 April, 2026
Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Friday 3 April: Ballarat and Cranbourne (Victoria).
Ballarat:
Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.
6:30 p.m. (NZ) - 4:30 p.m. (Vic) R7 7 Geegees Mistruth (4 m Wordsmith – Miss Mana) – Lachlan Neindorf; she finished strongly near the rail for seventh in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on 7 March at Flemington, and drops in class for the A$300,000 Open Handicap 1100 metres. Extremely unlucky finishing third when resuming in the Listed W. J. Adams Stakes (1000m), she is a six-time winner to 1400 metres, and rates a top three chance from barrier one. NZ TAB fixed odds: $5.00 & $2.00.
Cranbourne:
Weather: overcast, track: Good4, rail: out 7 metres. No rain forecast.
9:00 p.m. (NZ) - 7:00 p.m. (Vic) R5 1 Alcaraz (3 g Snitzel – Serenada) – Rhys McLeod; he finished boldly on the inside of runners for a close third in a jump out on 23 March at Cranbourne, and debuts in the A$45,000 Maiden 3YO 1000 metres. He is by four-time Champion Sire Snitzel (Redoute’s Choice), out of a four-time winner to 1400 metres Serenada (Encosta de Lago), who has produced four winners of 12 races to 1400 metres. He will likely be ridden to settle from barrier eight and look for him finding the line strongly.
10:45 p.m. (NZ) - 8:45 p.m. (Vic) R8 8 Titahi Bay (3 f Spirit Of Boom – Aotearower) – Liam Riordan; she closed off in an eye-catching manner on the inside from back in the field, finishing third in the Benchmark 64 3YO Fillies 1000 metres here on 13 March, and contests the A$40,000 Benchmark 66 Fillies & Mares 1300 metres. A stylish Maiden winner over 1430 metres, she has been twice course/distance placed, and has top four credentials from barrier five.
