Te Akau Victoria Thursday Preview

Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Thursday 22 May: Ballarat (Victoria) and Pakenham (Victoria).   

Ballarat:

Weather: overcast, track: poly-track, rail: true. 

4:00 p.m. (NZ) ~ 2:00 p.m. (Vic) R2 11 Sparkles (3 f Grunt – Shampz) – Jake Duffy; she stalked the leaders in third and subsequently finished second in a jump out on 29 April at Pakenham (poly-track). Debuting in the A$27,000 Maiden 1200 metres, her dam has left two winners of five races to 1600 metres, and while her pedigree suggests she may require further, this race is an ideal start to her racing career.

Pakenham:

Weather: fine, track: Good4, rail: true. No rain forecast.

7:45 p.m. (NZ) ~ 5:45 p.m. (Vic) R3 7 Veomas (2 c I Am Invincible – Midnight Revels) – Jamie Melham; he was steadied back to last and made up good ground for fourth in a jump out on 12 May at Cranbourne. Resuming in the A$40,000 2YO Maiden 1200 metres, he has since spelled and drops in class here since debuting in the Magic Millions Debutante Stakes (Listed, 1000m) in October at Caulfield. Has ability, but requires luck from outside gate (11). NZ TAB fixed odds: $12.00 & $3.10.
