Te Akau Waikato Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the nine-race programme on Friday October 3 at Te Rapa.

As on Thursday October 2 the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 2 metres.

3.22 p.m. R6 11 Merrily (4 m O'Reilly - Mchappy) - Matt Cameron; made up plenty of ground after missing the start when resuming on Sept. 6 in the Rating 65 1200 metres at Wanganui. Up to 1400 metres and drawn barrier two, she meets a promising line up. Able to utilize the handy gate, she showed in winning her maiden over this trip by nearly five lengths that she harbours the necessary goods.

4.33 p.m. R8 5 Longbeach (4 g Fastnet Rock - Betwixt) - Leith Innes; pierced through late to grab third resuming on Sept. 20 in the Rating 65 1400 metres at Hastings, and now steps to a mile. Likely to get back in running off a wide gate, he will be somewhat reliant on pilot judgement but with some luck appears a genuine chance in a field of solid course performers.

5.08 p.m. R9 14 Osmunda (4 m O'Reilly - Wyndam Special) - Matt Cameron; made terrific ground on the inside of runners for third, after being checked to last early on, when resuming on Sept. 19 in the Rating 75 1300 metres at Taupo. She has pleased trainer Jason Bridgman in the interim and drawn barrier two contests the Rating 75 1600 metres. A very genuine performer, she is a stronger article this time in and has the ability to threaten.
