Te Akau Waipa Preview
4 October, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the eleven race programme on Sunday 4 October at Waipa.
As on Saturday October 3 the conditions were: fine and Slow9, rail true.
12.16 p.m. R1 10 Carmenize (3 f Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Cameron Lammas; contributed to a competitive tempo, found a good kick and looked the winner until being swamped late on debut over 1200 metres on Slow8 at Matamata, in a race which saw the winner come from last. In the Maiden 1150m, she has the speed to negate a wide draw and can finish top five in a solid field.
2.51 p.m. R6 11 Lady Painton (3 f Tavistock - Lady Verify) - Cameron Lammas; worked through the line okay from off the pace in the Maiden 1400 metres on 16 September on Slow8 at Matamata, and has blinkers on for the corresponding event. A big filly, she has the pedigree to go much further and seeing her round off solidly would be encouraging. She is also accepted in Race 5 but third on the ballot and more likely to start here.
3.26 p.m. R7 2 Bon Marche (4 g Nom Du Jeu - Las Vegas Lass) - Cameron Lammas; had no cover on a competitive pace but displayed tenacity in finishing third on 9 September in the Maiden 1600 metres on Slow8 at Te Rapa. Although not overly big, he has carried the 58.5kgs creditably and appears a genuine chance in the Maiden 1580 metres providing he appreciates the course.
4.36 p.m. R9 8 Babilloni (5 g Cecconi - Babillard) - Anna Jones (a1); worked through the line okay from back in the field when resuming in the Rating 65 1300 metres on dead going at Taupo, and steps up to 1400 metres. He finished second to subsequent group one winner Sakhee's Soldier (Sakhee's Secret) at the corresponding meet here two years ago, and has subsequently recorded two wins on good ground. Better for his first up run, he could finish in the first five with luck in running.
