Te Akau Waipa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Sunday 7 October at Waipa.

As on Saturday 6 October the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 2 metres. No rain forecast.

3.11 p.m. R4 1 Red Jakkal (3 g Jakkalberry - Red Alert) - Shafiq Rusof; quickened from off the pace with a strong finish for second on debut in the Maiden 1230 metres on 16 September at Rotorua. He was good after the line and Shafiq was pleased with his action. Ideally suited stepping to 1400 metres in the $10,000 Maiden event, he rates well from barrier one in a handy field.

3.11 p.m. R4 7 Ocean Star (3 g Ocean Park - Star of Gibraltar) - Jason Waddell; drew wide and worked home solidly on debut in the Maiden 1400 metres on 16 September at Rotorua, and contests the corresponding $10,000 event. Prior to, he finished second in a trial won stylishly by stable-mate Golden Age (Savabeel), and Red Jakkal (above) finished third. From a better draw (7) he also shapes as an each way contender.
