Te Akau Waipa Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Sunday 18 June at Waipa.

As on Saturday 17 June the conditions were: fine and Heavy10, rail true. No rain forecast.

1.51 p.m. R4 1 Rocksun (4 g Fastnet Rock - Beyond the Sunset) - Danielle Johnson; found very testing track conditions beyond him last time at Ellerslie, and although encountering footing of heavy nature again the going should be much better. With blinkers on, he drops in grade to contest the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres, a distance that has seen him win twice, and he has the gate speed to negate an awkward draw. Fixed odds: $9.00 & $2.90.

3.03 p.m. R6 1 Bishop Rock (4 g Fastnet Rock - Festival Princess) - Danielle Johnson; worked from the outside barrier to lead and just peaked on his run over the concluding stages in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 20 May at Te Rapa. Back in class from a Saturday event to contest the $10,000 Rating 65 2000 metres, he should be fitter for two runs this time in. Given 29 days since last racing and stepping up distance, with visor blinkers on, are all positives and he can race well if appreciative of the course and conditions at his first attempt. Fixed odds: $5.50 & $2.00.
