Te Akau Waipa Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday 7 July at Waipa.  The footing was rated Heavy11, with the rail out 14 metres. 

Heat 4 2YO 850 metres (2 ½ lengths, 3 lengths 59.3)

2 g Pins - Regal Ash - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well to trail before kicking up on the inside and although struggling in the testing ground he fought well for second.

Heat 5 2YO 850 metres (1 length, 5 lengths 58.9)

2 f Choisir - Shopping Spree - Ed Zac-Syed; raced on the speed but found it difficult to cope with the heavy going in the straight.

Heat 6 2YO 850 metres (½ a head, 5 lengths 59.8)

2 f Showcasing - Louders - Cameron Lammas; showed to do everything quite well, but the rider suggested the adverse footing was against her.

Heat 7 2YO 850 metres (3 ½ lengths, ½ a length 58.8)

Christine Louise (2 f O'Reilly - Happily Ever After) - Cameron Lammas; was put into a handy position from the outset, travelled quite nicely in the testing ground and battled well for third.

Heat 8 2YO 850 metres (3 lengths, head 59.8)

Coincidence (2 g Savabeel - Read My Lips) - Ed Zac-Syed (also main picture); trialled well on the heavy going. First out to lead, he stuck to his task on the inside of runners to finish fourth.

Heat 9 2YO 850 metres (1 ½ lengths, 3 ½ lengths 59.4)

Niamh Elizabeth (2 f Per Incanto - Trove) - Cameron Lammas; jumped away well, travelled nicely in a handy position and kept giving to finish third in testing conditions that she handled to a reasonable degree.
