Te Akau Waipa Trials' Report

Te Akau trialled seven horses at Waipa on Thursday -

Heat 5 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (3½ lengths, ½ lengths, 53.97)

3g Alamosa - Danewhisper; Jasmine Fawcett; eased from a three wide position early to sit in behind the leaders. Angled across heals at the top of the straight, the gelding ran away from his rivals to score an impressive trial victory by three and a half lengths.

Heat 6 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (length, 1 ¼ lengths, 54.26)

Saavy Lady - Cameron Lammas; got back from the barriers and worked to the line nicely without too much pressure from the rider.

Heat 8 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (1½ lengths, 1¼ lengths, 54.83) 

Don'tblamethemusic - Matthew Cameron; began quickly from the barriers and sat outside the leader. The gelding raced greenly throughout the running but kept up a strong gallop to finish second.

Heat 9 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (1½ lengths, neck, 53.98)

Abloom - Jasmine Fawcett; quickly found a lovely position in behind the speed. She raced through the leaders down the straight to be pipped on the line for second.

Heat 12 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (½ length, neck, 54.64)

3f Redoute's Choice - Scarlett Lady - Matthew Cameron; soon after jumping, the filly coped a check from another runner which pushed her to the tail of the field. Coming to the turn, she was pushed wide but attacked the line strongly to be within three lengths of the winner.

Heat 13 Maiden 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (1½ lengths, 1½ lengths, 54.62)

Lady Jasmine - Jasmine Fawcett; began well from the barriers to sit outside the leader. She travelled well through the running and attacked the line strongly in the straight to finish second.

Heat 17 Maiden 4YO & Up Catchweight 850 metres (length, neck, 45.76)

Sanhermano - Cameron Lammas; began well to sit outside the leaders. She showed a good turn of foot on straightening and raced away from her rivals to score an easy trial victory.
