Te Akau Waipukurau Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Sunday 10 December at Waipukurau.

As on race morning (heavy dew) the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.

1.35 p.m. R2 12 Martinelli (3 f Burgundy - A La Votre) - Michael McNab; debuts in the $12,000 NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1200 metres, eligible for the $11,500 bonus. Drawn barrier 10, she began smartly from a wide gate to position outside the leader when trialling on 28 November at Matamata, sustaining a determined effort for fourth, and rates a top four chance if able to negate the draw.

2.10 p.m. R3 3 Wandering Eye (3 g Commands - Adulterer) - Michael McNab; followed a second and first, respectively, with a notable fourth in the Rating 65 1400 metres on Matamata Cup Day. Freshened since, he resumes off 57 days in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. Drawn barrier five in a small field, he brings the form to warrant favouritism.

5.05 p.m. R8 8 Elegant D'Oro (4 m Medaglia d'Oro - Elegant Fashion) - Michael McNab; was in tight quarters running in to third when resuming in the Maiden 1200 metres on 12 November at Hastings. Drawn to receive all favours from barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres, she appears a strong chance in this field.
