Te Akau Waipukurau Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Thursday 28 March at Waipukurau.

As on Wednesday 27 March the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail out 3 metres 1300m - 400m, remainder true. 5mls rain forecast Wednesday night, showers Thursday afternoon.

1.22 p.m. R2 1 Jet Set(4 g Savabeel - Society Lady) - Craig Grylls; freshened (43 days) since finishing fifth in the Maiden 1600 metres at Te Aroha. His two prior starts saw him finding the line from well back over 1200 metres and running home solidly for third over 1400 metres. Drawn barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1350 metres, he appears ideally placed to threaten.

2.32 p.m. R4 2 Willpower(3 g Power - The Lady) - Craig Grylls; kept up a good gallop to hold his spot after being caught three wide at the trials on 19 March at Matamata, and resumes in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres. He has contested strong form races, shows natural ability, and rates an each way chance from barrier six.

3.42 p.m. R6 1 Al Haram (6 g Sea the Stars - En Public) - Craig Grylls; has shown to be solid through the line over shorter trips, most recently in the Rating 82 1600 metres on 17 March at Woodville, and although carrying top weight (62kgs) he should appreciate stepping up in the $20,000 Waipukurau Cup (Rating 72 2200 metres).

4.17 p.m. R7 1 Lord High Spirit(6 g High Chaparral - Azumi) - Craig Grylls; continued his solid form when stretching out well to finish fourth in the Rating 65 1600 metres on 17 March at Woodville, and carrying the same weight (60kgs) he rates a top three chance from barrier four in the corresponding event.

4.52 p.m. R8 4 Not Usual Dream (3 g Shocking - Walsburgs Dream) - Craig Grylls; resumed off 76 days in the Maiden 1400 metres on 13 March at Matamata, getting home strongly from back in the field for sixth. He was very competitive here on debut in December when nabbed on the line in the Maiden 1600 metres, and rates a top three chance from barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1600 metres.
