Te Akau Wairoa Preview
18 February, 2015
Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight-race programme on Thursday 19 February at Wairoa.
As on Wednesday 18 February the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true.
1.22 p.m. R1 6 Seline (4 m Pentire - Dion) - Matt Cameron; has been freshened since finishing seventh over 1950 metres at Rotorua, and comes off 29-days for the Maiden 1850 metres. Unlucky not have broken through for a maiden win, with a couple of narrow defeats, she should receive all favours from barrier four.
5.30 p.m. R8 6 Zarules (3 g Zabeel - Gwen's Rules) - Matt Cameron; makes his debut from barrier seven in the Maiden 1450 metres. Finding the line for third in each of his two trials this time in, both over 1200 metres, he is an improving sort of horse that appears capable on type to get over more distance. Gwen's Rules won nine races to 1400 metres, including the Lightning Stakes (Listed, 1000m) at Trentham, Te Rapa Sprint (Listed, 1200m), as well as finishing runner-up in the Railway Handicap (Gr. 1, 1200m) at Ellerslie, and within the family was a very talented galloper in five time winner The Pumper (Kaapstad).
