Te Akau Wairoa Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has five horses racing on Thursday 22 February at Wairoa.

As on Wednesday 21 February the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. 2mls rain forecast Thursday afternoon.

1.22 p.m. R1 8 Beau Geste (3 g Pour Moi - Villa Wanda) - Alysha Collett; has been given time since working home solidly in tight quarters for fourth on 31 December at Stratford, with Collett aboard. An improving type, the half-brother to Champion galloper Wall Street (Montjeu) appears to have each way claims from barrier four in the $10,000 Maiden 1900 metres.

2.32 p.m. R3 7 Abbey Kay (4 m Keeper - Abbey Tralae) - Tegan Newman (a3); remained rearward in the Rating 65 1200 metres last Sunday at Gisborne, with Newman aboard. Drawn barrier five in the $10,000 corresponding event, she seeks improvement, has the addition of blinkers and a tongue tie, and bred to appreciate give in the ground.

3.07 p.m. R4 6 Qian Gua (3 g Cape Blanco - Cool Diamonds) - Alysha Collett; led and kept up a good gallop for third when trialling over 1200 metres on 5 February at Cambridge. Debuting from barrier five in the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres, his dam, Cool Diamonds (One Cool Cat), won over 1200 metres on rain-affected going and he hails from a terrific Cambridge Stud family.

4.17 p.m. R6 4 Tavis Star (6 m Tavistock - Megapins) - Tegan Newman (a3); did everything right when finishing second in the Rating 65 1600 metres last Sunday at Gisborne, with Newman aboard. She has a liking for give in the ground and should again secure an economical trip (barrier three) to prove competitive in the $10,000 Rating 65 1900 metres.

5.27 p.m. R8 7 Unfazed (4 m Zabeel - Fazed) - Alysha Collett; began awkwardly before making lot of ground to finish third in the Rating 65 1400 metres at Hastings, and ideally drawn (3) in the corresponding $10,000 event. Short of room at vital stages in recent races, she is a mare with ability and deserves another breakthrough.
