Te Akau Wanganui Monday Preview

Te Akau Racing has three horses entered on Monday 20 January at Wanganui.

Wanganui:

Weather: cloudy, track: Soft6, rail: true. No rain forecast.

12:47 p.m. R1 3 He Who Dares (2 c Snitzel – Rondinella) – Craig Grylls; he quickened appreciably to grab the win when trialling in October at Waipa, and remained camped on the leading division with more to offer in a trial on 14 January at Matamata. Debuting in the $18,500 Maiden 2YO 1200 metres, he is out of the top Group performer Rondinella (Snitzel), who was impressive winning four times from 1400m – 2100m. He has lovely pedigree behind him, should run well on debut and take benefit from the trip away, and rates a top three chance. Fixed odds: $1.55 & $1.05.

3:07 p.m. R5 4 Charmrose (4 m Charm Spirit – Sovereign Rose) – Craig Grylls; she was claimed late in the piece after racing in or near the lead when resuming in the Pearl Series Maiden Fillies & Mares 1200 metres on 20 December at Matamata, and contests the $18,500 Maiden 1200 metres. Twice second from her four career starts to date, she also has three trial wins under her belt, and does look a realistic top three prospect. Fixed odds: $1.95 & $1.15.

5:39 p.m. R9 2 Treaty of Paris (5 g Tavistock – Echezeaux) – Marc Lerner; he was unable to quicken when resuming in the Rating 75 1600 metres on 4 January at Te Aroha, and contests the $18,500 Rating 75 1600 metres. The winner of four races from 2000m – 2200m, he receives the opportunity to show improvement second-up from barrier one. Fixed odds: $15.00 & $3.90.
