Te Akau Wanganui Preview
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Thursday 12 January at Wanganui.

As on Wednesday 11 January the conditions were: fine and Dead4, rail true. 1ml rain forecast 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. race day.

1.42 p.m. R3 4 Abloom (3 f Darci Brahma - Corsage) - Opie Bosson; produced a notable second up performance out of midfield when claimed on the line for third in the Maiden 3YO 1215 metres on 27 December at Rotorua, her final 600m in 34.0. Ideally drawn (4) in the Maiden Three-Year-Old Fillies 1200 metres, a similar effort should see her very competitive in this field.

2.17 p.m. R4 2 Spritz (4 m Thorn Park - Spray) - Opie Bosson; resumes off 181 days in the Rating 65 1200 metres, after biding her time last and working home solidly in a trial won by stable-mate Xtravagant (Pentire) on 13 December at Te Aroha. She collected an $11,500 NZB Pearl Series Bonus in addition to the $12,000 stake when winning over a mile in June at Avondale, has been a consistent performer and looks capable of a bold first up performance, from barrier one, in this field.

3.27 p.m. R6 8 Fastnet Fire (4 m Fastnet Rock - Dragon's Tail) - Opie Bosson; ran on from second last without being able to make up the necessary leeway in the Rating 65 1800 metres on footing downgraded to Dead5 on 24 December at New Plymouth, following a dominant second up win in the Maiden 1600 metres on 8 December at Hastings. Beautifully drawn in barrier one for the Rating 65 1600 metres, she has the ability to bounce back with a bold performance.

4.07 p.m. R7 5 Grazia (4 m Savabeel - Trocair) - Opie Bosson; returned a much better effort when coming from last at the 600m to finish fifth in the Maiden 1400 metres on 24 December at New Plymouth, and stepping to a mile she looks ideally placed to threaten from barrier six.
