Te Akau Wanganui Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Thursday 4 April at Wanganui.

As on Wednesday 3 April the conditions were: fine and Slow7, rail out 3.5 metres 1000m - 400m, remainder out 2 metres. No rain forecast.

2.12 p.m. R3 3 Military Step  (3 g Tavistock - Marching On) - Ryan Elliot; finished strongly for third on debut over 1200 metres in February at Wairoa, and was solid again through the line for third in the Maiden 1400 metres on 17 March at Woodville. Stepping up in distance seems ideal in the $10,000 Maiden Highweight 1600 metres and there is enough evidence in the family to suggest he will handle the footing.

3.22 p.m. R5 8 Dublin Rose  (3 f O'Reilly - Irish Dream) - Johnathan Parkes; trialled very well for a close third in February at Avondale, before resuming with a solid second in the Maiden 1200 metres on 17 March at Woodville. Unlucky not to have won, registering three seconds, a third and two fourths, from seven starts, she has drawn barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 3YO 1350 metres.

5.12 p.m. R8 11 Cicciolina  (3 f Burgundy - A La Votre) - Johnathan Parkes; ran the same last 600m (36.3) as the winner when finishing sixth on debut over 1100 metres in December at Matamata, and has been freshened since. She made good ground for fourth when trialling on 19 March at Matamata, and appears ideally placed to resume from barrier one in the $10,000 Maiden 1200 metres.
