Te Akau Wanganui Thursday Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Thursday 13 June at Wanganui.

Weather: overcast, track: Heavy11, rail: true.

12.53 p.m. R2 5 Qian Gua (4 g Cape Blanco - Cool
Diamonds) - Ryan Elliot; steadied for cover off a wide gate after beginning
well in the Rating 72 1600 metres on 26 May at Hawera, and rounded off solidly
for seventh in a faster last 600m (35.8) than the winner. He did similar at his
previous start over 1400 metres on 5 May at Trentham, and appears ideally
placed to rate an each way chance in the $11,000 Rating 72 High-weight 1600
metres.

2.38 p.m. R5 6 Grand Ariana (3 f Snitzel - Enduja) -
Ryan Elliot; was seen doing her best work after the line when trialling over
935 metres on 27 May and resumes in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres. One
start, one win, when coming from well back over 1200 metres as a two-year-old
at Waipukurau, she has handled heavy ground at the trials and capable of an
encouraging performance in a field where Coventina Bay (Shamexpress) could
start hot favourite.

3.13 p.m. R6 9 Dolce Amore (3 f Sebring - Irish Belle)
- Chelsea Burdan (a4); improved on a satisfactory debut effort over 1200 metres
in April at Awapuni, finishing third to Coventina Bay (mentioned above) on
Heavy10 in the Maiden 1200 metres on 16 May at Otaki. Burdan rode stable-mate
Richard of Yorke (Oasis Dream) to victory last Saturday at Trentham, and aided
by weight relief to 52.5kgs the pairing has the form to race well.
