Te Akau Wednesday Trackwork

Te Akau track work Wednesday October 16

Course proper, right-handed (slow):

Last start winners Sir Darci (Dee) and Spellbinder (Miller) worked over 1000 metres in 1:08.3, last 600m in 38.5. A two-length winner on Sept. 22 over 1350 metres at Gisborne, Sir Darci steps out again next week on Thursday Oct. 24 in the Benchmark 65 1400m at Hastings. Having raced away to win the Soliloquy Stakes (Listed, 1400m) by six and a half lengths on Sept. 28 at Ellerslie, Spellbinder is being readied for the James & Annie Sarten Memorial (Gr. 3, 1400m) on Labour Monday, Oct. 28, at Te Rapa. She will then contest the 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) on Nov. 16 at Riccarton.

Following her work this morning, rider Daniel Miller said: “I had a hold going across the line and she did it easily. She seems to be a pretty good filly and gives a nice feel. I would have loved to let her go.

1000 metres at three-quarter pace on the sand track:

All Decked Out (Hazlett), Sir Darci (Dee), Thrive (Miller), Urban Angel (Lang) all worked solo.

800 metres at three-quarter pace on the sand track:

Aspen (Dee) was followed at an interval by Rapid Gain (Miller), Jewels Gift (Miller) and Osmunda (Miller). Stanica Star (Dee) worked solo, as did Precious Time (Miller).
