Te Akau Weekend Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has one horse entered for the eight-race programme at Ruakaka, and three on the ten-race card at Hastings, Saturday June 28.

Ruakaka:
As on Friday June 27 the conditions were: cloudy and Slow7, rail out 1.5 metres.

1:55pm R4 6 Resonance (4 g Darci Brahma - Royal Rhythm) - Matt Cameron; fought hard from outside the leader for a close third in the Maiden 1600 metres here on June 14. Drawn barrier one in the corresponding event, and likely to strike similar track conditions, he should receive all favours in what appears a slightly stronger field than he met last time.

Hastings (pictured):
As on Friday June 27 the conditions were: fine and Slow7, rail out 7.5 metres.

11:00am R1 3 Sunset Pass (5 g Yamanin Vital - Janet's Chance) - Daniel Miller (a2.5); tired in the very testing Heavy11 ground in the Maiden Hurdle 3100 metres at Te Aroha, and should strike considerably better going here for the Maiden Hurdle 2500 metres. He has blinkers on for this assignment and an improved performance is expected.

12:00pm R3 8 Brer (5 g China Cat - La Fox) - Daniel Miller; was put under a ride jumping the fence at the 600 metres in the Awapuni Hurdles (2900m) on Heavy11 footing at Awapuni, and gets better ground here for the Hawkes Bay Hurdles (3100m). He has continued to please in training since his last outing, finished third here to Indikator (Sandtrap) in a 2500-metre hurdle two starts ago, and both his jumps wins have been over this distance.

3:26pm R9 8 Enhance (3 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Mick Dee (a1); was off the pace on June 7 in the Benchmark 65 1400 metres on Dead6 footing at Te Rapa, and has a tongue tie added to her gear in the corresponding event here. She should receive a favourable trip from barrier one and an improved performance is expected.
