Te Akau track work highlights - Saturday 6 February -
Course proper (Dead):
Preparing to race next Saturday at Te Rapa,Chadsdale (Ritchie) and Xtravagant (Miller) galloped over 1000m in 1:07.5, last 600m in 38.5. Both horses worked well. Xtravagant (Pentire) contests the weight-for-age $200,000 NRM Sprint (Gr. 1, 1400m) and Chadsdale (Castledale) the $30,000 Rating 65 1400 metres.
Arpeggio (Leveque - below left) and Opulent (Lammas - below right) ran 1000m in 1:06.2, last 600m in 39.2. Arpeggio (Tavistock) is preparing for the $30,000 Rating 85 1600 metres at Te Rapa and Opulent (Keeper) the Rating 75 1600 metres next Sunday at Matamata.

Recent Desert Gold Stakes (Gr. 3, 1600m) winner Duchess Kate (Miller - main picture) went 1200m in 1:19.8, last 600m in 39. Duchess Kate (Savabeel) steps up for the $100,000 Cambridge Stud Sir Tristram Fillies Classic (Gr. 2, 2000m) next Saturday at Te Rapa.
Sand track:
Cathedral Cove (Miller) galloped 1200m in 1.20.5, last 600m in 36.7.
Chambord (Lammas) ran 1200m in 1:21, last 600m in 41.
Lady Jasmine (Fawcett) and Tiffany's Time (Hanafi) ran 800m in 54, last 600m in 37.7, both going well.
Amperage (Ritchie) and I See Fire (Miller) ran 1000m in 1:05.5, last 600m in 36.5. Fifth on debut, I See Fire (Encosta De Lago) has her second start next Wednesday, February 10, over 1400 metres at Avondale.
Fas (Shailer) and Linchpin (Richards) ran an easy 800m, last 600m in 41.
Astrid (Coleman) ran 1000m in 1:10.5, last 600m in 41. Racing in terrific form, Astrid (Pins) is preparing for the $30,000 Rating 75 1400 metres next Saturday at Te Rapa.
Sand track, three-quarter pace:
Alert (Shalier) looked very good when going 800m. Splurge (Richards) went 800, looking in great order.
All-weather track:
Skyscraper (Lammas) went 1200m in 1:24, last 600m in 39.9. Skyscraper (Manhattan Rain) is aiming towards the Maiden 1600 metres next Sunday 14 February at Matamata.
