What a wonderful week it has been for us all!
Firstly we had a marvellous trip to Wellington. I must have been the world's proudest husband - Karyn's investiture with her Queen's Honour at Government House was a truly moving experience.
You may have seen the video on this website that Trackside played on television over the weekend. They sent a film crew and producer to create that coverage. Today we also received the official video from Government House which is different to the one you may have seen - if you want to watch it - here is the link - just click on:
That night in Wellington we went to Boulcott Street Bistro with some special friends for a celebration and it was a great night.
We are really busy at the farm at the moment with our breaking in. We have some magnificent horses to break in this year and tomorrow we will be riding 18.
Last night in Singapore, Mark and Julia Walker took Gus and Karen Clutterbuck and Jamie Richards out for dinner. Jamie has been in Singapore for 10 days staying with the Walkers. We wanted Jamie to have first hand experience of our operation there as part of his orientation/induction to Te Akau! He will be at the Kranji races tonight (which we will enjoy watching later) and arrives back in time for the Cambridge trials on Tuesday.
I really enjoyed watching the racing yesterday but just cannot believe that the Dates' Committee of the New Zealand Racing Board would put low key harness racing on both its channels which meant that we couldn't get the early Sydney races on Trackside channel 63. I really enjoy good quality harness racing but please NOT at the expense of first class Sydney racing on a Saturday!
We have had a marvellous week selling horses and now have sold 95% of our yearlings. We have got over 70 first time and new owners who have joined the Te Akau team and today Karyn is sending out details to 15 more new Te Akau owners! Welcome!
It is very dry at the farm at present however the horses are doing so well that I have had to reassess their feed regime!
Today we have had people coming to the farm all day to inspect yearlings and then I am heading into Hamilton to meet some new investors.
If you have invested in one of our beautiful yearlings - thank you and congratulations! My goal is to take Te Akau to the next level in the coming 12 months. We have exciting plans and events coming your way, including some international racing targets - and I have bought horses to do that!
There is now only one share remaining in my Melbourne Cup Syndicate - these are two stunning colts both with the Zabeel factor - one is BY Zabeel (first colt below) and the other is OUT OF a Zabeel mare (second colt below). If you would like to be involved - call me today on 07 825 4701 - or email Karyn who will be in our office all day - [email protected].
