Te Akau Racing has two horses entered on Friday 23 May at Wingatui.

Weather: fine, track: Heavy10, rail: out 9 metres 1400m – 900m, remainder out 6 metres. No rain forecast.

2:40 p.m. R6 5 Bello Mio (5 g Deep Field – Bella Francesca) – Hayley Hassman (a4); he finished strongly for second in the Rating 75 1000 metres on 26 April at Riccarton, also with the Te Akau apprentice aboard, and contests the $17,000 Rating 75 1200 metres. The apprentice claim brings him weight relief to 53.5kg, he has been a winner before on Heavy10 going, and he has the right stats to prove competitive. Fixed odds: $3.70 & $1.55.

4:19 p.m. R9 7 Can’t Kach Me (5 m Tavistock – Kachina) – Hayley Hassman (a4); she settled midfield and remained in  similar spot throughout in the Rating 65 1800 metres on 26 April at Riccarton. Contesting the $17,000 Rating 65 1600 metres, she too has been a winner on soft and heavy tracks up to 2200 metres, enjoys the weight relief to 53.5kg, and is more than capable of a competitive effort if she handles the course at her first attempt.  Fixed odds: $6.00 & $2.25.
