Te Akau Wingatui Preview

24 October, 2017

Te Akau New Zealand has four horses racing on Wednesday 25 October at Wingatui -

As on Tuesday 24 October the conditions were: fine and Dead5, rail true. 6mls rain forecast race day.

1.42 p.m. R3 3 Tiffany's Time (4 m Alamosa - Tinsel Time) - Opie Bosson; settled off the pace and was big late in the piece to win very well on 7 October in the Rating 65 1400 metres at Riccarton, having resumed with a solid third on the same course. Up in grade and distance in the $11,000 Rating 75 1600 metres, she brings the right form to prove very competitive in a small field.

2.17 p.m. R4 2 Astrid (6 m Pins - Astralita) - Opie Bosson; resumed on 13 October in the Rating 85 1200 metres at Timaru, where despite finishing back in the field her final 600m (33.3) was faster than the winner. Dropping back in grade for the $11,000 Rating 80 1200 metres, she has beaten some good fields in winning five races, including two from five when last campaigned, and ideally drawn in barrier three to threaten.

4.04 p.m. R7 2 King Kane (4 g Showcasing - Vannista Belle) - Opie Bosson; resumed with a notable performance for third to subsequent stakes' placed Sensei (Dream Ahead) in the Rating 65 1200 metres on 13 October at Timaru. Having won his Maiden over a mile on dead ground last season at Hastings, he should appreciate increasing distance in the Rating 65 1400 metres and possesses the attributes to test this field.

5.14 p.m. R9 1 Zavistic (4 g Zacinto - Miss Avalon) - Opie Bosson; put the writing on the wall fresh-up when running the fastest final 600m (33.8) for second on 15 September in the Maiden 1200 metres at Oamaru, winning comfortably at his next start on 13 October in the Maiden 1200 metres at Timaru. Up in grade and drawn the outside barrier (12) in the $10,000 Rating 65 1200 metres, he appears ideally placed in this field to force the issue again.
