Te Akau Woodville Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses entered for the eight race programme on Thursday 16 April at Woodville.

As on Wednesday 15 April the conditions were: fine and Slow7, rail true.

1.10 p.m. R2 9 Imperium (3 g Encosta De Lago - Ethereal) - Lisa Allpress; finished a clear third when resuming off 87-days in the Maiden High-weight 1600 metres on March 25 at Avondale, and steps up in distance to contest the Maiden 2100 metres. He has responded well to some chiropractic work behind the saddle in the interim and based on what he has shown previously a return to his best would make him very competitive in this field.

3.30 p.m. R6 14 Shillelagh (3 f Savabeel - Trocair) - Lisa Allpress; was scratched because of the Heavy10 footing on Wednesday at Rotorua, and now makes her debut from barrier three in the Maiden 1200 metres. A sister to Brisbane Cup (Gr. 2, 2400m) winner Tullamore [$827,000 in stakes], and year younger filly and stable-mate Grazia, she has shown good ability with a first, second, and fourth in her three trials and should go well here.
