Te Akau Woodville Preview
25 January, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses entered for the eight race programme on Monday 25 January at Woodville.
As on Sunday 24 January the conditions were: cloudy and Good2, rail out 3 metres 800m-300m. There is no rain forecast.
12.26 p.m. R1 6 Maestro (5 g Encosta De Lago - Miss Scarlatti) - Johnathon Parkes; was caught wide on December 27 in the Rating 65 1560 metres at Rotorua, after rallying for fifth when resuming prior over 1400 metres at New Plymouth. Off 29 days in the Rating 65 1600 metres, he has drawn the outside barrier (11) and will require luck.
1.01 p.m. R2 2 Beacon of Hope (3 g Fastnet Rock - Randaroo) - Johnathon Parkes; proved a class above his rivals when leading throughout on January 8 in the Maiden 1400 metres at Rotorua. On rain-affected Dead4 footing, he clocked a very respectable 1:23.4 and 34.8 for the final 600m. There is plenty of quality about him and capable of making an immediate impact in the next grade, over the same trip.
2.11 p.m. R4 7 O'Know (3 f O'Reilly - Know All) - Johnathon Parkes; finished off nicely for second on debut in the Maiden 3YO 1200 metres on January 1 at Hastings, and steps up in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. Out of a mare by Zabeel (Sir Tristram), from Group One winner Critic (Centaine), she is destined to go further but rates a top three hope with luck from a wide draw.
