Te Akau Woodville Preview
20 April, 2016
Te Akau New Zealand has four horses entered for the eight race programme on Thursday 21 April at Woodville.
As on Wednesday 20 April the conditions were: overcast and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.
12.50 p.m. R2 1 Cathedral Cove (4 g Zabeel - Thistle Cove) - Matt Cameron; circled from the rear and all but grabbed winning stable-mate Echezeaux (Encosta De Lago) in the Rating 65 2100 metres on Dead6 at Awapuni. He recorded a promising debut win over 1900 metres at Wairoa and, ridden off the pace, appears a major player in this field.
2.00 p.m. R4 13 Carmenize (3 f Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Leah Hemi (a2); has been pretty solid recently, registering two thirds and a last start fourth in the Maiden 1215 metres at Rotorua, and venturing south should see a continuation of form over 1200 metres.
2.00 p.m. R4 14 Niamh Elizabeth (3 f Per Incanto - Trove) - Matt Cameron; has tightened up following a good second when trialling over 1000 metres at Avondale, and resumes with blinkers on in the Maiden 1200 metres. She was found to be slightly off colour at her only course attempt, acts fresh, and has the talent to threaten.
2.34 p.m. R5 8 Royal Success (3 g Savabeel - Royal Show) - Matt Cameron; has trained on since finishing second in a 1200-metre trial at Avondale, and makes his debut in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. A consistent performer through the trialling stage, he meets a few with race day experience, but should give a good account. His dam, Royal Show (Deputy Governor) was a stakes winner of four races up to 1400m.
