Te Akau Woodville Preview

Te Akau New Zealand has two horses racing on Monday 23 January at Woodville.

As on Sunday 22 January the conditions were: raining and Dead5, rail true. 2.5mls rain forecast Sunday, 9mls race day morning.

2.51 p.m. R5 10 Zip Zap (3 f Stravinsky - Miss Zapper) - Michael McNab; kept finding the line for a close fourth in the Maiden 1300 metres on 2 January at Tauherenikau, after doing her best work late when resuming over 1200 metres on 14 December at Matamata, and a further step up appears ideal in the Maiden 3YO 1400 metres. Although requiring luck from a wide draw, she has displayed good attributes in both starts this time in and from a mare that won on rain-affected going should aid in coping with the ground.

4.45 p.m. R8 7 Beaumarchais (3 g Savabeel - Almaviva) - Michael McNab; resumed off 60 days with a notable effort for fifth in the $50,000 Special Conditions 1400 metres on 1 January at Ellerslie, after drawing away to win his Maiden by two lengths over 1400 metres in November at Avondale. He is likely to command plenty of support in the Rating 65 1400 metres, which can be franked with luck from a wide draw and appreciation of the conditions.
