Te Akau Woodville Thursday Preview
Date: 18 Apr 2019
Te Akau New Zealand has three horses racing on Thursday 18 April at Woodville.
As on Wednesday 17 April the conditions were: overcast and Dead5, rail true. No rain forecast.
1.57 p.m. R4 5 Scottish Star (3 f Bullbars - Highland Lights) - Johnathan Parkes; debuted with a terrific victory in the Maiden 1200 metres on 27 March at Matamata, and ideally drawn (5) in the $10,000 Rating 65 1400 metres. A half-sister to stable-mate Our Abbadean (Lookin At Lucky), a dual Group Two winner and dual Group One placed, she showed the type of acceleration required to rate a top four chance up in grade.
2.32 p.m. R5 12 Qiji Crystal (3 f Per Incanto - Moss Lady) - Johnathan Parkes; finished strongly to grab third in the NZB Insurance Pearl Series Maiden 1400 metres on 27 March at Matamata, and contests the $10,000 Maiden 1400 metres. Although drawn wide (14), she brings strong form to rate an each way chance.
4.17 p.m. R8 4 Lady Zeraph (4 m Makfi - Zatiger) - Chelsea Burdan (a4); ran home solidly for sixth amongst those that ran the fastest 600m (33.9) on the day when resuming in the Rating 72 1200 metres on 23 March at Tauranga. A staying mare of promise, she provided the Te Akau apprentice rider with a winning debut earlier in the season. Back in grade and up in distance for the $10,000 Rating 65 1600 metres, she will settle off the pace from barrier 11 but can work home into calculations.
