Remember too, if these fillies live up to expectations on the track, they will be highly sought after when their retirement time comes. Residual value can really rocket - here are just some examples:

➡️ Lot 586 bay filly Fastnet Rock - Test the World (Testa Rossa) $1,000,000 (draft: Curraghmore Stud)

Here's a striking filly that will turn heads! Class embodied, she is as close to flawless as we have seen!

David Ellis CNZM purchased nine-time Group 1 winner Avantage (Fastnet Rock) from the very same Coolmore Stud/Curraghmore Stud combination - and here comes another outstanding filly.

Superstar, Champion Sire Fastnet Rock (Danehill) has left more than 2000 winners globally. He is rregarded as a sire influence of international repute, and is a renowned sprinter/miler producer.

This filly's dam Test the World won six-times to 1200 metres in Sydney, including four in succession, and was a highly talented filly that finished runner-up twice in stakes' races.

The pedigree page has great depth of stakes' winners, through to third dam Glory Girl (Best Western) leaving nine winners.

Gordon Cunningham of Curraghmore Stud received the filly in early October last year from Coolmore Australia, to continue her sales preparation.

“We've always felt that she was a top class filly and when she came to the sale ground you could sense that the momentum was building on her, and she put her best foot forward,” he said.

“She's consistent with the best class of fillies we've prepared and very obviously by Fastnet Rock, from her head to her tail.

“Basically she has plenty of strength, and a good but strong mind which good fillies tend to have.”

The filly carries a Danehill cross as the sire of Fastnet Rock and through the dam line of Test the World.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “We've had terrific success with progeny from Testa Rossa mares, including Cool Aza Beel (Savabeel), winning the Karaka Million 2YO (Restricted Listed, 1200m) and Sistema Stakes (Gr. 1, 1200m) and who now stands at stud in Australia.

“This filly was the sale-topper and as nice a filly as I've ever seen. I told Karyn before the sale, I was not going home without her, I rated her so highly.” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/karaka-2023-lot-586-fastnet-rock-test-the-world-bay-filly/

➡️ Lot 534 bay filly Savabeel - Sombreuil (Flying Spur) $200,000 (draft: Milan Park)

Quality from top to tail, this classy Savabeel filly floats effortlessly across the ground.

By Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m) winning three-year-old and eight-time Champion Sire Savabeel (Zabeel), she is from a mare by Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Flying Spur (Danehill).

This filly is from a family that Te Akau knows well and we have already experienced considerable success with - including grand-dam Te Akau Rose (Thorn Park) who David Ellis CNZM purchased as a yearling at Karaka.

Trained by Mark Walker, Te Akau Rose is one of eight winners for the stable of the Matamata Breeders Stakes (Gr. 2, 1200m) and she went on to produce five individual winners of 14 races.

This family has plenty of depth, known by many as the ‘Alberton family', and has produced a host of high quality winners, none more so than Group 1 winner and first season sire Brutal (O'Reilly).

The filly carries bloodline crosses to incredibly influential sires: Sir Ivor, Nureyev, and Northern Dancer.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “Gee, this filly has done well since the sales on great grass. She will commence breaking-in in three weeks and she's a Karaka Million type filly, with the strength, scope and size to develop into a lovely three-year-old. Certainly a candidate for the Filly of the Year Series, which Te Akau has won eight times” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/karaka-2023-lot-534-savabeel-sombreuil-bay-filly/

➡️ Lot 248 bay or brown filly So You Think - Illuminati (Keeper) $160,000 (draft: Wentwood Grange)

A lovely bodied, very correct filly who has the classic stamp all over her.

This filly is a daughter of global race ing sensation, 10-time Group 1 winner So You Think (High Chaparral), whose dual-hemisphere Group 1 spoils included consecutive Cox Plate (Gr. 1, 2040m) wins. He was purchased as a yearling by Bart Cummings at the 2008 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier Yearling Sale, and went on to win 14 races and A$8.8 million in prize money before retiring to stud in Australia.

So You Think has produced horses to win over 1000 races, including 59 stakes ‘wins, and seven Group 1's. He has sired Derby, Oaks, and Guineas' winners, with his progeny showing terrific versatility at distances, dominated by milers, and proved himself at the most competitive levels in Australia.

So You Think is currently third in the Australian General Sires' List, and top 10 in each of the last five years.

Te Akau has recently had very good success with So You Think son Cognito, who has won three of seven starts and resumed with a brilliant victory in the Wellington Guineas (Gr. 2, 1400m) on 14 January at Trentham.

Our filly is out of Illuminati, by Danehill sire Keeper, and she was a stakes' win over 1400 metres among her phenomenal 10 career wins from 1200m - 1560m.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “I thought this filly was terrific value. She's strong and has a very powerful hindquarter, so evident in the toughest fillies. Strong, yet agile, she looks an autumn two year old that would target the Group 1 1000 Guineas, and could very well train on the be a Group 1 NZ Oak's contender.” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/karaka-2023-lot-248-so-you-think-illuminati-bay-or-brown-filly/

➡️ Lot 560 bay or brown filly Savabeel - Style by Design (Iffraaj) $350,000 (draft: Waikato Stud)

This filly is in the shape of our Group 1 winning Savabeel fillies Probabeel, Amarelinha, The Perfect Pink and Savy Yong Blonk (we've also trained six Group 1 winning Savabeel colts)!

We are told that no-one has the record with the progeny of Savabeel that Te Akau does. We really understand the offspring of Savabeel and how to get the very best out of them. Our elite success record with Savabeel is second to none. This Savabeel filly, by the eight-time Champion Sire is from a mare by internationally acclaimed sire and sire of sires Iffraaj (Zafonic).

So she has a pedigree to make you sit up and listen.

Savabeel is also the sire of current dual Horse of the Year Probabeel, purchased as a yearling by David Ellis CNZM at Karaka, and winner of four Group 1 races in Australia.

This filly's dual winning dam Style by Design, known as a strong finisher, was stakes' placed as a two and three-year-old. She herself is by Iffraaj (Zafonic), the same dam-sire as mighty mare Melody Belle (Commands). While Iffraaj is an internationally proven sire, broodmare sire, and sire of sires, the same can be said for grand-dam sire High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells).

Grand-dam Chaparella, another noted strong finisher, won eight races including two stakes' races over 1400 metres.

The filly carries a bloodline cross through her sire lines to Nureyev, a racehorse with immense turn of foot, Champion French 3YO, who has sired more than 20 Champions.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “As a 2YO this filly gives us the impression she could be a Group 1 Sires' Produce Stakes' type filly, and train on as an early 3YO three-year-old to contest a Group 1 1000 Guineas and Group 1 Levin Classic. She too would be a realistic candidate to contest the NZB Filly of the year Series.” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/karaka-2023-lot-560-savabeel-style-by-design-bay-or-brown-filly/

➡️ These next two fillies - Lots 145 and 59, both bought at the Gold Coast Yearling Sale - are sold together as our 2023 Filly Syndicate.

Lot 145 bay filly Written Tycoon - Moldover (Snitzel) A$525,000 (draft: Milburn Creek)

A lovely framed individual she is by an elite, proven sire and is a picture-perfect example of a refined and elegant thoroughbred filly.

Written Tycoon (Iglesia) topped the Australian General Sires' List in 2021, after rising from an initial service fee of A$8,250 to now command A$165,000 at stud. That tells the story of his success!

Leading First Season Sire and Champion Two-Year-Old Sire Written Tycoon is currently the second leading sire for wins in Australia, and recently notched his 100th stakes' winner as a sire, a tally that includes 14 Group 1 winners so far - with plenty to come, such is the quality of his progeny.

Written Tycoon is also a sire of sires, including Golden Slipper (Gr. 1, 1200m) winner Capitalist, Group One winners Written By and Ole Kirk, and Rich Enuff, Winning Rupert.

Our filly's dam-sire Snitzel (Redoute's Choice), a two-time Champion Sire of Two-Year-Olds in Australia, equalled and then surpassed Danehill with the record number of individual two-year-old winners in a season - a mark that now stands at 35. He has also headed the General Sires' List twice and Australian Champion Sire in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.

As a broodmare sire Snitzel, a son of Champion Broodmare Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill), is increasingly making his presence felt, and last season his daughters left 10 stakes' winners.

The filly is the first foal of Moldover, who won twice at 1100 metres, while the dam-line has tremendous success mated with Savabeel (Zabeel), including multiple stakes winner Savvy Nature, stakes winner Addictive Nature, and 1000 Guineas (Gr. 1, 1600m) winner Hasahalo.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “The two Australian fillies in our 2023 Filly Syndicate are simply outstanding individuals who will have superb residual value. Both handled the rigours of the sale, and then international transport like true professionals and that tells you a lot about their temperaments. Our Written Tycoon filly has an absolutely stand-out pedigree with speed on speed on speed and she looks like she will get up and run early”. ➡️ Lot 59 bay or brown filly Zousain - Liesele (Exceed and Excel) A$250,000 (draft: Coolmore Stud)

A filly of distinction by an exciting, up and coming young sire, she's a sharp, precocious lass with plenty of character. She has a big, rich pedigree and we expect her to make an early impact.

This filly is from the first crop of young Zoustar (Northern Meteor) son Zousain: a $400,000 yearling himself, he was trained by Chris Waller to win the Moet & Chandon Classic (Gr. 2, 1200m) as a two-year-old and was runner-up three times at Group 1 level from 1200m - 1600m.

The fact that he was acquired for stud duties at Widden Stud is testament to his racing exploits, pedigree, and potential.

Our filly's dam Liesele is by Champion Sire Exceed and Excel (Danehill) who has made a name for himself over two decades in world racing and breeding - he is just an extraordinary sire and now broodmare sire - with daughters already producing 12 Group 1 winners.

Liesele won nine races from 1000m - 1200m, including the Alinghi Stakes (Listed, 1100m) as a three-year-old at Caulfield, and has produced three individual winners already.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “She is also a precocious filly, with a lot of class, and looks to us that she will be up and going as a two year old. She's physically powerful and uses herself well. Both of these fillies will be educated with a view of heading to compete in Australia.” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/magic-millions-gold-coast-yearling-sale-lot-59-zousain-aus-liesele-aus-bay-or-brown-filly/

➡️ Lot 146 brown filly All Too Hard - Moonchild (Charge Forward) $160,000 (draft: Glenbeigh Farm)

Now here's a filly that was incredible value for money - don't hesitate at this price. Nostrils and nose, hers are bountiful - experts will tell you, very good fillies have both in abundance (big ears and big nasals)!

Australian Champion Three-Year-Old Colt All Too Hard (Casino Prince) is a half-brother to the unbeaten champion Black Caviar (Bel Esprit), winner of all 25 starts (15 Group 1's), and sire of Queensland Horse of the Year Alligator Blood. He has been Champion First & Second Season Sire.

Winning three times as a two-year-old, All Too Hard won three Group 1 races over 1400 metres in Australia: All Aged Stakes, Futurity Stakes, C. F. Orr Stakes, and now is certainly making his mark as a sire with over 1200 winners, including 55 stakes' winners.

The filly is from an un-raced mare by Charge Forward (Red Ransom), an extremely talented Group 1 winning racehorse who was sought for stallion duties at Arrowfield Stud.

Grand-dam Flowerchild, winner of three races to 1250 metres, is by Champion Sire and Broodmare Sire Redoute's Choice (Danehill), and third dam North Flower is by legendary Australian sire Rory's Jester (Crown Jester).

The filly carries a Danehill cross through the sire line of All Too Hard and dam-line of Moonchild.

Updating, David Ellis CNZM said: “She has a great shoulder, terrific deep girth, good strong hindquarters, lovely temperament, and we are due to start breaking-in in about three weeks. She really is a lovely filly with a great head on her - and better still she's smart, very smart!” Learn more about her here: https://teakauracing.com/product/magic-millions-gold-coast-yearling-sale-lot-146-all-too-hard-aus-moonchild-aus-brown-filly/
