Te Akau's Jason on Top

After a winning double at Matamata on Thursday, Te Akau trainer Jason Bridgman is back in charge of the New Zealand Trainers' Premiership table.

In what has been a phenomenal start to the season for Te Akau, Jason hit 30 wins for 2013/14 when Orinto saluted the judge on her home track, emulating the prior performance by debutante stablemate Angelica Hall earlier on the programme.

Jason's winning tally stands at 30 - with another  second and third placings.  Te Akau's winners have earned $735,363 in prizemoney for our owners (second highest stakes' earnings) and Jason has trained more Group and Listed winners than any other trainer - five to date.  Most impressive of course is his strike rate - 4.00 is remarkable for a major stable - one in every four Te Akau starters comes home a winner.

This success is down to three main factors - buying and attracting the right horses to train, having a world class team to train and place them and of course most importantly, having an outstanding and committed family of owners that race them - thank you everyone!

Here are the latest standings sourced from New Zealand Thoroughbred Racing this morning:

Premierships are based on performances during each racing season (August 1st - July 31st). The jockey and trainer with the most wins at the end of the season are the Premiership winners. These statistics are updated daily.
