Te Akau's Te Teko Trialists

Te Akau trialled horses on Tuesday August 27 at Te Teko. The footing was rated Heavy10, with the rail out ten metres.
Heat 1 Open 1000 metres (1:03.23 neck, head)
Viana (5 m Volksraad - Hecuba) - Daniel Miller; settled back on the inner from barrier one and found the footing too wet for her liking.
Exabelle (5 m Exceed and Excel - Avabelle) - Michael Dee; was eased to the rear off the outside gate and drawn wide into the straight she really responded with a powerful finish for second.
Heat 2 Open 1000 metres (2 ½ lengths, ½ lengths 1:00.8)
O'Darci (4 g Darci Brahma - O'Sequita) - Matt Cameron; got well back in running and was unable to make progress in the ground.
Heat 3 Open 1000 metres (½ length, 1 ½ lengths 1:01.91)
Single Act (4 g Bachelor Duke - Consumer) - Daniel Miller; travelled kindly in nice spot behind the leaders and clear at the 300 metres he was unable to quicken up in the ‘off' track conditions.
Heat 4 3Y0 1000 metres (neck, dead-heat 1:03.18)
All Decked Out (3 c Darci Brahma - Diamond Deck) - Matt Cameron; (main picture with Assistant Trainer Pam Gerard) landed outside the leader, maintained a good line in the straight while finishing strongly for second in tight quarters.
Heat 5 Open 1200 metres (2 ½ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 1:15.44)
Gunsmoke (6 g O'Reilly - The Gem) - Matt Cameron; began smartly to situate outside the leader. He worked on to lead under his own steam nearing the home turn and held together got home nicely to finish second to a stakes winning mare.
Heat 6 Open 1200 metres (1 ¼ lengths, head 1:16.66)
Alert (4 g Zabeel - Kay's Awake) - Matt Cameron; bided time last of five, swept around at the 500 metres and found the line strongly, drawing out late, to win well.
Imperial Miss (5 m Shinko King - Nanset) - Daniel Miller; found cover one off in fourth at the 800 metres and showed a good turn of foot for second.
Heat 7 2Y0 600 metres (1 length, 1 ¼ lengths 35.46)
Fiftyshadesofbay (2 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Craig Grylls; got back in running but did everything right in her first educational trial to finish just off midfield.
Rockfast (2 c Fastnet Rock - Gypsy Princess) - Matt Cameron; took a stride or two to get underway, recovered to travel wide behind the pace and showed a will in the straight, doing his best work on the line.
Heat 8 2Y0 600 metres (1 ¼ lengths, ¾ lengths 35.49)
Flaming (2 f Bachelor Duke - Flying Firebird) - Matt Cameron; missed start, settling last by three to four lengths. She cornered nicely and quickened appreciably, making up plenty of ground to finish fourth. She displayed a good action and ran on solidly past the post.
Heat 9 2Y0 600 metres (1 ½ lengths (check), ¾ lengths 36:04)
Darci's Dream (2 f Darci Brahma - Sweet Dreams Baby) - Matt Cameron; began swiftly to cross and lead. She cornered nicely before running clear and showed good natural ability to win easily.
Light Source (2 f Iffraaj - Shadow Ray) - travelled fourth in running initially but became outpaced. She did everything right from an educational standpoint and needs more distance.
Heat 10 Maiden 3Y0 800 metres (1 length, head 47.84)
The Musician (3 g Minstrel Court - Carrots) - Daniel Miller; travelled off the pace in seventh, stayed rail on straightening and ran on solidly in the worst of the ground to hold his position.
Heat 13 Maiden 3Y0 800 metres (½ head, neck 48.02)
3 f Henrythenavigator - Chasing Mammon - Michael Dee; got back in running, pressed between runners in the straight but had trouble quickening on the shifty ground.
Heat 14 Maiden 3Y0 800 metres (neck, nose 48.44)
Enhance (3 f Saperavi - Pinstinct) - Michael Dee; began well to position third without cover. She was drawn wide in search of better footing on straightening and sustained a strong finish for second.
Heat 15 Maiden 3Y0 800 metres (head, ¾ lengths 48.98)
Jewels Gift (3 f Stravinsky - Jesmonds Gift) - Matt Cameron; camped on leaders, through to level one off nearing the home turn, kicked hard at the 300 metres and sustained her run for third in a blanket finish.
Heat 16 Maiden 3Y0 800 metres (2 lengths, 2 lengths 47.95)
Osmunda (3 f O'Reilly - Wyndam Special) - Matt Cameron; from last in running, she travelled up nicely circling near the home turn and making her run widest in the straight let down in good fashion to finish fourth.
Heat 18 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (head, 2 ¼ lengths 1:01.37)
Aspen (3 c Alamosa - Kirin Belle) - Matt Cameron; stood the leader six lengths at the 600 metres, circled widest and showed willing attributes when running home strongly for a close second.
Sebrose (3 c Sebring - Bramble Rose) - Michael Dee; got well back in running, caught flat-footed across the top and tracked home behind runners. Although requiring a lot more distance he gave the rider a nice feel.
Heat 19 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (¾ lengths, 1 ½ lengths 1:01.41)
Chambord (3 g Zabeel - Miss Montjeu) - Michael Dee; jumped well and travelled keenly in fifth, unable to get cover, but still got home strongly under minimal urging to finish close up in second.
Sir Darci (3 g Darci Brahma - Dominant) - Matt Cameron; travelled keenly camped on the leaders, angled clear at the 300 metres and ran home strongly in close quarters for fifth.
Heat 20 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (2 lengths, ¾ lengths 1:01.09)
Flirty Gertey (3 f Thorn Park - Granma Gertey) - worked up midfield on the inner, six lengths from leader 600 metres, cut corner, picked up nicely in the straight and displayed good attributes in finishing third.
Heat 21 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (1 length, 3 lengths 1:01.82)
Hardcore Rock (3 g Fastnet Rock - River Dreaming) - Matt Cameron; tracked first two in running, cleared traffic on straightening and unwound a big finish to win well. He was very good over the concluding stages, pricking his ears on the line.
Heat 22 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (1 length, 3 lengths 1:01.82)
King's Rock (3 c Fastnet Rock - Nureyev's Girl) - Matt Cameron; began well to travel one off the fence in fifth, worked through to lead entering the home straight and after quickening to an advantage he rounded off strongly for an authoritative win.
Heat 23 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (1 ½ lengths, 3 lengths 1:01.10)
3 f More than Ready - Insouciant - Mark Du Plessis; showed good pace to lead from barrier one, cruised along at a good tempo through the 600 metres, into duel with a rival at the 300 metres and stuck to her task solidly for second.
Longbeach (3 c Fastnet Rock - Betwixt) - Matt Cameron; settled fifth, six lengths off the lead at the 600 metres, travelled up widest on straightening and sustained a strong finish for third.
Heat 24 Maiden 3Y0 1000 metres (1 length, head 1:02.27)
Alchemy's Flight (3 f Darci Brahma - Eloa) - Matt Cameron; dictated terms in front under a hold, wide on track, travelled up under her own steam with an advantage in the straight and proved too good.
Rise ‘n' Shine (3 g Zabeel - Kay's Awake) - Michael Dee; travelled easily in midfield, wide on the track, angled wide and got home solidly in the better footing for a good third.
Heat 25 4YO & Up 1000 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 1 length 1:01.59)
Peerage (4 g O'Reilly - Chimeara) - Matt Cameron; loped along in third early but off a long layoff he was let run home without urging.
