Te Teko Trial Report


Te Akau trialled horses at Te Teko on Tuesday, August 2


The track was rated Heavy10 and the rail was out fourteen metres.


Heat 1 Open 1040 metres (2 lengths, 1/2 length, 1:03:98)


Hall Of Fame (3c Savabeel - Around The Clock) - Matthew Cameron; jumped from barrier three and drifted back to settle near the rear of the field. Worked home along the inside to finish seventh.


Our Abbadean (4m Lookin At Lucky - Highland Lights) - Cameron Lammas; drew the outside barrier of the ten horse field. After beginning slowly, she settled near the rear of the field. On straightening she was brought to the centre of the track and allowed to work home under her own steam to finish eighth.


Heat 2 Open 1040 metres (2 1/2 lengths, 1 1/4 lengths, 1.04.28)


Imperium (5g Encosta De Lago - Imperium) - Cameron Lammas; jumped from barrier four and settled third last over the sprint trip. Nearing the 600 metres Cameron gave the gelding a dig to get him back onto the bridle and he ran through the line well to finish just behind the placegetters. 


Zambezi Warrior (4g Pentire - Zambezi) - Michael McNab; drew wide in the field of ten runners and settled at the tail. Turning for home, he was brought to the centre of the track and he was allowed to work home through his gears to finish a tidy sixth.


Heat 3 Open 1040 metres (3/4 length, 3/4 length, 1.04.38)


Love Triangle (4m Encosta De Lago - Love Diamonds) - Matthew Cameron; began well from barrier one to lead the field. Coming to the home corner, the mare was angled to the centre of the track and she kept up a strong gallop for second. 


Bishop Rock (4g Fastnet Rock - Festival Princess) - Doni Prastiyou; was first out of the gates to travel boldly on the outside of the leader. He kept up a strong gallop through the line to finish fourth.


Heat 4 3YO 1040 metres (neck, long neck, 1.05.39)


Sassy ‘N' Smart (3f Smart Missile - Panorama Bridge) - Michael McNab; tracked along in fifth during the running and worked home nicely in the centre of the track, holding her position through the line to finish fourth.


Heroic Valour (3c Fastnet Rock - Myrrh) - Matthew Cameron; jumped from barrier four and settled nicely in a midfield position. Held together he attacked the line under his own steam in an impressive trial.


Heat 6 2YO 600 metres (neck, 1/2 length, 36.34)


1f Burgundy - Scicolone - Cameron Lammas; jumped well from barrier three and trailed the speed between runners. She held up a solid gallop in the straight but was out sprinted over the short trip.


Heat 7 2YO 600 metres (2 ½ length, ½ head, 36.12)


Nucleonic (2f Burgundy - Mexican Rose) - Michael McNab; was first out of the gates to travel on the inside of the leaders against the rail. She maintained a solid gallop in the worst of the ground to finish fourth.


Heat 8 2YO 600 metres (1/2 head, 2 lengths, 36.93)


Seirios (2c Pierro - Irish Light) - Michael McNab; speared through to co-lead and quickened up in the home straight to cross the line on terms in a nose defeat.


2f Burgundy - Breezed - Cameron Lammas; jumped well and traveled kindly in a midfield position. She didn't have a lot of room in the run home and finished nicely in behind the placegetters.


Heat 9 2YO 600 metres (3/4 length, 1 3/4 lenghts, 36.70)


2f Burgundy - Paraiba - Michael McNab; travelled wide throughout the trial and wasn't pressured down the straight to finish in behind the speed.


Silver Missile (2c Smart Missile - Ocelot) - Cameron Lammas; reared coming out of the gates and missed the kick slightly but that allowed him to find the rail in behind the speed. He attacked the line nicely in the worst of the ground to finish just behind the speed.


Heat 10 12.18pm MDN 3YO Catchweight 850 metres (Neck, Nose, 51.97)


Alrina (3f Alamosa - Zorina) - Cameron Lammas; began well to co-lead on the inside of the track, but was never comfortable in the heavy conditions finishing just in behind the speed.


Play For Time (3f Foxwedge - Procrastinate) - Matthew Cameron; began well to trail from barrier six. Angled to the centre of the track on straightening, she made eye-catching ground to finish second.


Heat 11 12.30pm MDN 3YO Catchweight 850 (6 lengths, 2 lengths, 50.87)


Tiffany's Time (3f Alamosa - Tinsel Time) - Sam Weatherley; settled into a nice spot fourth, tracking the eventual winner and ran on strongly in the straight to finish second.


Beaumarchais (3g Savabeel - Almaviva) - Michael McNab; settled midfield posted wide from the awkward barrier in a compact field. He was held together, finishing off strongly and crossed the line on terms with the second horse.


Heat 12 3YO 800 metres  (short neck, 1 1/4 lengths, 51.59)


Unfazed (3f Zabeel - Faze) - Cameron Lammas; jumped quickly to settle behind the leaders. Finding the middle of the track in the run home, she worked home without any pressure to finish in behind the leaders.


Corporate Missile (3f Smart Missile - Corporate) - Jasmine Fawcett; from the wide barrier travelled in the better part of the track throughout. Angled wide on straightening she found plenty in the straight to win the trial nicely.


Heat 13 3YO 800 metres (long head, 3 lengths, 52.13)


Wide Awake (3g Savabeel - Kay's Awake) - Michael McNab; tracked along near the rear in the running and worked home nicely on the outside of runners in the straight to finished third.


Dame Margo Fonteyn (3f High Chaparral - Dancing Forever) - Jasmine Fawcett; idled along in third position before looking for better ground wider, accelerating to lead and fighting off the horse on her outside to win the trial well.


Heat 14 3YO 800 metres (1 ¾ lengths, ½ head, 51.68)


Discretely Red (3g Redwood - Scarlet Queen) - Cameron Lammas; settled into a nice spot on the rail just behind the leading division. Coming along the inside of runners in the worst of the ground, he made good ground to finish second. 


Heat 15 3YO 800 metres (neck, head, 52.23)


King Kane (3g Showcasing - Vannista Belle) - Michael McNab; jumped well and was keen on the inside of runners near the lead. He quickened up nicely without any pressure in the worst of the ground to finish a lovely second.


Heat 16 3YO 800 metres (neck, 4 ½ lengths, 51.51)


Lady Amadeus (3f Medaglia D'Oro - Rialto Bridge) - Michael Coleman; jumped well to position just behind the leading duo. Under minimal urging she finished off the trial nicely to finish fourth in a good first up trial.


Heat 17 3YO 800 metres (1/2 head, 3 lengths, 51.71)


Lucy Wyldstyle (3f Savabeel - Lego) - Cameron Lammas; began well to co-lead on the inside and held together she quickened up nicely in the home straight, finishing just behind the leading division in fourth.


Heat 18 3YO 800 metres (neck, 2 lengths, 52.29)


O'Naturelle (3f O'Reilly - Naturo) - Michael McNab; tracked the speed in sixth and worked home nicely down the outside in the straight to win the trial impressively.


Heat 19 3YO 800 metres (neck, 4 lengths, 51.83)


3g Shocking - Breaking Dawn - Cameron Lammas; got back early from barrier one and maintained a solid gallop to the line over a sprinting trip.


O'Reilly Star (3g O'Reilly - Starbelly) - Michael McNab; went forward from a wide barrier to take up a handy position. He kept up a determined finish under minimal urging for third.


Heat 20 3YO 800 metres (1 ¼ lengths, 1 ¼ lengths, 51.63)


Ocean Rock (3g Fastnet Rock - Ocean Pearl) - Jasmine Fawcett; tracked along in a midfield position and worked home nicely to the inside of runners in the straight, holding his position through the line to finish fifth.


3f Redwood - Volks Princess - Michael Coleman; jumped well and quickly found the lead in the centre of the track. After finding better ground on the outside rail she worked through the line in good fashion to finish second. 


Heat 26 4YO & Up 1040 metres (length, ½ head, 1.05.79)


O'Know (4m O'Reilly - Know All) - Michael McNab; jumped well and raced on the bridle in fourth position. At the 600 metre mark, she scouted wider for better track near the outside of the track and worked home hard held to finish second.


Heat 27 4YO & Up 1040 metres (3/4 length, ½ length, 1.05.85)


Paradise Rock (4g Fastnet Rock - Apple Charlotte) - Cameron Lammas; jumped quickly and settled in behind midfield. Without being urged he worked up in behind runners and tired on his run the last 100 metres.


Carmenize (4m Any Suggestion - Zevita) - Michael Coleman; sped to lead and kept up a strong gallop to cross the line on terms with the placegetters.
